Orange - Faulty Handset in Month 15 of 18 - What Do I Do?

Options
Hi All,

I have a Sony Ericcson W850i that has developed a fault and orange wont repair it as the phone only has a 12 month warranty.

Is this correct and should I not have a phone fit for purpose and for the length of my 18 month contract.

The only other avenue is a new unreasonable 18 month contract renewal where I am no better off.

Any help please?

Thanks,

Chris

Do check your warranty card carefully as most Sony Ericsson phones in the UK come with 2 years warranty.

the phone is one contract, the line rental is another contract, neither is linked to teh other in terms of warranty. As someone else suggests check it isn't a 2 year warranty firstly with the manufacturer. On the plus side at least it's only 3 months left so you could get a new contract feasibly without too much of a hit, better than it breaking in month 13 at least

unfortunately phones are not programed to last the length of your designated contract then they detanate.

Thre are orange retention deals out there.... get on the phone, choose option for cancellation and get a deal thats if you still want to continue
  • I would ask for an upgrade. I got my upgrade after 9 months of my 18 month contarct with orange and they gave me £150 too for my old phone which was rubbish! I went into an orange shop.
    £2 Savers club £0/£150
    1p a day £/
  • I would ask for an upgrade too.

They usually start offering you these after 12 months anyway...
  • Grab your receipt/Delivery note, or something that proves when you got your handset. Sony Ericssons have a 2 year warranty on them, take into your local CarPhone Warehouse and it should be fixed and back to you within 2 weeks. If you can't find you're receipt then it'll be £45 to get it fixed. If 2 weeks is too long without your w850, CPW also have "Express Repair Centres" where they take 1 or 2 days. (I've used the Nottingham one and was fantastic) you can search on their website (find a store link at the top, then tick the express repair centre box and put where u live)

    Hope this helps
