Hello gillsmills
I think you'll get more help with this in the 'Mobile Phones' board, so I'll move it across for you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Any older models of Nokia's are good. Very easy to use.
I bought my mum a Nokia 6100, no camera etc, just the basic phone as all she uses is calls and the odd text.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Hi gillsmills
I have a very basic, simple Nokia that I bought for my Mum in 1996, but unfortunately, she died before it got used. It would need a SIM card, but if you want to PM me your address, you are welcome to it. If it wasn't suitable, perhaps you could pass it onto someone else? No idea why I've held onto it so long really. Has no instructions, charger etc, but is a basic Nokia so you should be able to sort these out easily.
Let me know what you think

Search for the emporia life phone, it is designed for the older person, we got one for my gran her eyes aren't the best but the display and the buttons are huge and have been desiged for ease of use and so that poor sighted people can use them. they also have a red button on the back that can be configured to call or text a list of people in emargencies you know like the red cords in warden controlled houseing sort of thing.
build quality is ok, not like modern mass produced phones but it feels solid and won't fall apart in your hands, the downside is they cost about £180 but there are vat free discounts available with some companies just shop arround.0
