I stopped pointing out duplicates after I got some nasty pm's from newbies objecting to 'check the thanks' I now leave them for other people to point out - I avoid duplicating my own entry, but unfortunately no longer help other people to do the same. I found it wasn't worth the hassle.

That's terrible  we missed you - wrote to you in the discussion thread :)

Cheeky - if I got that kind of PM I would post the reply on here, and feel perfectly justified in doing so, without, of course, quoting the PM.

I think that it is a real shame we've all lost out on your posting (if that is the reason for your absence).

If I could do Dalkirst's bells and girls thing to cheer you up, I would. This is the best I can do::j Sorryicon7.gif

    Yes, ditto here, welcome back.

Just a thought, maybe we should ask Divadee or Kipper if the rules around finding duplicates could be spelt out in very simple terms in the sticky so that if anyone complains about a 'short' message warning to other readers they can be referred to the sticky?

I think that that is a really good idea, although I do wonder if there won't still be misunderstandings for other reasons. I know that I have learn from mistakes since I started on here... and been the victim of them too.

I do think that spelling out that brevity does not equal rudeness, because time is limited with so many comps and a life elsewhere, could be useful.icon14.gif

I'm not much of a poster on the comping thread...mostly because I suck at it, never being quick enough to post a new comp but I read this thread and dropped in here to add my 2 cents.

    1. Cheeky - yer one of the best in this forum, please don't take any notice of any mean/rude pm's - it's sad that they could have been so horrid as to make you stop posting alerts about duplicates. Come back, we've missed you.

    2. "Check the thanks" is common forum jargon here so really, it would have been nice for BettiePage NOT to just have jumped to conclusions, particularly if she is new. You know what happens when you assume stuff...you make an a** out of you and me. Nevertheless, welcome. You'll soon learn that this forum is very friendly and helpful.

    3. Dalkrist - thanks for pointing out that its a duplicate - I'm sure you've saved a hell of a lot of people from disqualifying themselves (myself included). Cheers!

    4. The whole bells and girls things sounds kinky!;)

    5. Monkey spanker (since nobody had mentioned it, I thought I would). :D
