  • Noooooooooooooooooooo do not send the Sar to Mhall. It has to go to the original creditor. The store card company. The CCA goes to Mhall. Mhall will not be able to provide copies of your statements. Trust me Mhall will pass this debt back to the store card company. And once you have a list of all the charges on your card then you can chase them. Depending on what you owe them you could could either clear the debt or get a refund.

  • ok, getting a tad confused here. Have Mhall passed this debt to Hamptons legal or the oter way round. Hamptons legal are also a DCA. If you can just clarify that would be great. Sorry to be a pain but its important time wise to send requests to right DCA. I think the best thing to do actually is to just request a CCA from them both. For the sake of 1.00 each lets get at them both.

  • Have re read things. Am going to put down some questions which will make it less confusing for you and us here.
1/ Where did your last demand letter come from, Lowells, Mhall, or Hamptons legal
2/why were you going to send SAR to Hamptons Legal, where do they come into it. These are not the original creditors. ie, store card.
3/who is the origal creditor, Pm me this one if you dont want to post on open forum.
4/ how much was the debt for, what was your limit. And how much is being demanded by whichever DCA.
5/ Do you or have you ever had a copy of your credit report showing what amount was defaulted on.
6/Have you been taken to court at all for this debt

Sorrry to ask so many questions its just that it appears as though there are 3 DCAs involved here. Thanks hun. Sorry to be a pain but need to get it right

  • Hiya.
    Sorry for any confusion.
    1. The last demand letter came from Hamptons.
    2. I was going to send a SAR to mckenzie hall to get proof the account was settled with them at a discount.
    3. The original Creditor is Dixons (Halifax cetelem).
    4. Not sure what the limit was but It must have been around the £300 mark. I've been demanded £800+.
    5. Never had a copy of my credit report.
    6. Never. Well at least not yet.

Sequence of events. Dixons Store card > Didn't pay (young and stupid) > Debt passed to lowells (Didnt pay) > Debt passed to Mckenzie (payed them £500 which was taken as payment for the full debt-though I have no proof) > Lowells again for the remaining £300 (ignored them) > Now passed to Hamptons (who are a trading name for Lowells).

Hope I've made sense there. I get confused myself.
  • Ok thank you honey, So i take it lowells have passed this to hamptons. Right they are trying it on. CCa Hamptons ad lowells. And send SAR to dixons. Ooh now are they still trading. Not sure about that one. The debt if it was 800.00 and you have already paid 500.00. And the limit on your card was 300.00. Then it seems there are quite a few charges on this account. Send off for the CCas and see what they come back with. I think we can put this one to bed very quickly.

  • I paid with a debit card over the Phone. I have a statement from the bank showing the payment.
  • Do you have an address for dixons. Does anyone know if they are still trading as dixons. And would anyone know where to send the SAR to if not. Jp, do you have a credit card now. Only reason i am asking is so you can go online and get your credit report straight away. You can see it online. Takes about ten minutes. We could do with knowing what the default amount is. And also to find out who if anyone has placed a default on your account. Has any of the DCAs put one or dixons. The credit report does cost 15.00 but i think you can get your first one free. If you can do this an print it off for future ref.

  • Well thats brilliant. I would not bother asking Mhall for proof the account was settled. Especially if it was done over the phone. Your word against theirs. And its obvious they have not closed down the account. naughty people. Let battle commence. Think i am going to enjoy this one.
