It really depends what you mean by emergencies, tuition fees/food/travel aren't emergencies they're necessities, socialising also can't be classed as an emergency even if the bills arrive on the wrong day wilkster ;)

£100 a month isn't a dreadfully small amount of money for luxuries, I went through a period a while back when I was struggling to pay off debts when, by the time bills & debts were paid I only had £80 a month but my food had to come out of that too!!

There's loads of ways to cut down on your "social" spending.

    1. Learn to alter clothes so you can revamp anything that's starting to look tired or boring.
    2. Keep your eyes peeled on the Free Cinema Tickets thread in the Freebies board, it's a great way to get out to the cinema without forking out the £13 for tickets, and you could always take your own popcorn...
    3. Keep your eyes peeled on the Freebies/Discount/Grabbit while you can boards for vouchers and freebies to help you get out and about.
    4. Museums and Art Galleries are quote often free to visit, exploit that opportunity to have a free day out!

I'm off out with the boyfriend on Sunday for a "Birthday Grand Day Out", but we're saving up for a car, so we're going to a free museum in Newcastle city centre, then a free art gallery, and for a walk along the Quayside. Along with that I've scouted some vouchers so we get - 20% off at our all time favourite lunch spot, a bogof on Greggs pasties (maybe for a snack), and 4 free bottles of Budweiser at the Pitcher and Piano.

Socialising doesn't have to cost the earth :D
  • Yes, Edin is so expensive, I lived there for 3 years!

But if you can't afford it you can't afford it; it's likely your mates can't really either.

But there are loads of really well paying jobs in Edin! And, if you get really skint, socialise at the Rush bar... when I was there it was £1 a drink with a card... disgusting though!!

Or get an Edin snapfax, saved me loads

My OH would like a little extra too, but he doesn't get it:rotfl:

If you have debts then they should be your priority, not going out blowing £100 on a night out, invite your mates round yours and get a six pack in.

I don't go out, maybe once every few months. I'm not the one spending £100 on a night out.

I know, I have just read it back and it does sound like I'm talking about you, but I wasn't, not very well written - sorry.
