I was referring to their 6.3% variable e-Saver.
If you're looking for a fixed rate it may interest you to know that AIB are offering a 6.75% 1 year fix. I've also moved a chunk of my mum's money into this account to protect her income against falling interest rates over the coming 12 months. I can't provide any comments regarding the relative safety of AIB though, except to say that approximately 65% of the money that it lends comes from retail deposits.
One thing I will say though is, unless you like to take a risk with your money, beware of blindly chasing the highest rates on offer, especially where your money could end up locked away for a period of time - there is often a very good reason behind an institution advertising headline grabbing rates. Alas, moneysaving in its purest form can occasionally prove to be a little naive.
RMFor anyone wishing to contact me privately to ask me a question, can I ask that you email me directly as my PM box is often full.0 -
Sorry, just coming back to this thread as I'm now wondering the very same question - what's the best account now that's simple to operate, and offers a consistently competitive rate (so I'll never have to worry about transferring out again?) ISAs etc are cool too.
On a side note LOL at the first reply to this thread, awesome0 -
Haha, reading through some of the posts on this thread is amazing.
Love how the person who got thoroughly denigrated turned out to be right in the end.0 -

If you've got 25K the Investec High5 might be good for you
Rate is an average of the top 5 available - so never the best but not bad
90 days notice to withdraw
Good reports of service etc
