Honeymoon to Brazil (cheap flights required!)

At a glance it would seem to me (and I may be wrong) that if you and your other half were to take out the BMI credit card, as discussed by Martin (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/credit-card-special-offers#BMI), then you might be able to get a deal on flights.
Since Brazil is a zone 4 destination (http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/src/html/diamondclubhowtospendmiles.html) you wouldn't be able to get it for free, however it should only cost you 25000 miles + £170 + tax each.
If you join the BMI Diamond club before you apply for the credit card you should get 9000 miles free, then if you spend £250 on the credit card (make sure it's things you would've bought anyway!) then you'll get another 20000 miles. You'll both need to do this separately to have enough miles for two flights, however.
So, to summarize:
1. Both of you join the Diamond club separately getting 9000 free miles each
2. Both of you apply for the BMI credit card and spend £250 each in under 90 days earning you 20000 miles each
3. Pay 25000 miles + £170 + tax for each flight
4. Have a great time in Brazil
I hope I'm right about the above, but if anyone can see any flaws in my logic please point them out!Nice to save.0 -
:T
Thanks very much The Bhoy, I shall definitely check this out. It sounds thoroughly feasible. You're right though definitely need to make sure we only buy things we would have done anyway! No HD tv's for us yet (sniiff)
The one thing I have slight reservations on (having found out via airmiles) is that the tax can sting. However, the likelihood of it stinging to the tune of £500, I would hope, is UNLIKELY, but I shall definitely ch ch check it out!
Stuff like that I love. Recently converted my clubcard points to stenaline so we can take the boat and a luxury cabin to holland and back in July (for the wedding) for nought! Fantastic stuff. knew I'd been saving them up for a reason!
Stripee
If it works out I'll try to remember to post how it went here...0 -
No problem Stripee, I'll look forward to hearing how you get on.
I'm getting married myself next July, so I'll need to think about arranging a honeymoon as well!Nice to save.0
