Honeymoon to Brazil (cheap flights required!)

OK, so I realise it's not the typical honeymoon destination. But we were looking for something a little different and hoped that Brazil would be able to offer it. But I need some MoneSavingForumReadersHelp!

I can't seem to find flights for anything less than £700. My other half is a teacher so we have to fly in the Summer holidays. This of course doesn't help. We had originally hoped to bag a "charter" flight through Thomsonfly who last year flew into Natal in the North. Flights started at about £450. Very nice thank you very much. So far they've not even released the timetable, so not sure if they'll be flying this year.

Please help! Does anyone know how we might be able to fly to Brazil (any destination North or South) for a sensible price (around £500 each...or less:))? We're looking to fly out 30 or 31st July 08, and return 21 or 22nd August 08. I've tried a lot of the flight checkers as recommended by Martin. I was really looking for the long-haul equivalent of the flightchecker - from London airport to "any destination in Brazil" option... Any ideas anyone?

Assuming we can get there for a sensible price, we'll then be looking for travel around the country for a good price! One step at a time though!

Thanks in advance

Have you seen the beach/tour packages offered by First Choice/Eclipse Direct?
  • The girls really are beautiful and friendly in Brazil.

Don't go on your honeymoon go there for your 'stag do' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

PS. Bus travel around Brazil is very cheap and great fun. Long distance air conditioned coaches with lu's, water and coffe are excellent. Best if you speak a bit of portugese but surprizing how many brazilians speak american english; good luck.

  • We went to Natal through Thomson a couple of years ago (Very cheap, about £350.00 per person including 5star hotel) . But we went in January and i'm fairly sure it is a winter destination. I think that is why their flights are only showing til the end of April. Thomas cook also used to fly to Brazil but I think that was further south.

Just a small point if you go, when we went we took travellers cheques(visa) and couldn't cash them anywhere. They only dealt with American express. May have changed now that the brits have been going for a couple of years but we found it a problem.
  • Just had a trawl through the usual travel agents and am coming up with blanks. I think you may be best to go into a travel agents and get some advise. You can always look at cutting costs when you have a clearer picture of who actually flys there.

I was in Venezuela in October and I have a feeling that one of the giudes told me our summer is brazils rainy seasons, particularly in the north, where there are of course plenty ( well, not as many as there was!) rain foirests.

When booking scheduled flights, ALWAYS call. the last scheduled I booked was showing as 850 pp online and we got a reduction of about 150 pp by phoning round and playing them off against each other etc
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Thanks to everyone so far for the advice. I will certainly make a few phonecalls soon. Because if we can't get there for a sensible price, we may have to think again and that would be a terrible shame.

I've been told that the weather near the equator (ie north brazil) doesn't change a lot, but know there's websites you can go to to tell you historical weather. It all takes time

    OK.

Hope you find a good deal somewhere,we go in March and got flights for £520 each, but looking around for your dates everywhere is expensive....good luck.
  • Check out www.thomson.co.uk

You can either take flights alone, or a holiday with flights and hotel.

I checked out April, and you can get a week in the Porto do Mar (which has excellent reviews) including flights for £444 per person, including transfers.

Also, for going to Natal, it is better to go with a charter like Thomsonfly, as the flight is much shorter and direct. No stop-overs in Sao Paulo.

    You will love Brazil!

    Enjoy!
