Running_Horse wrote: »Strange how aggressive people get about parking spaces. I have reread the OP and can't find anywhere where it says he is blocking anyone in or causing a nuisance. Perhaps you just don't like commercial vehicles in your road? As the great Betty Boo once said, there's more serious of issues.
Or perhaps people just like to expect a little bit of consideration , whats wong with that ?
The same sort of people that dont tail gate and drive with fog lights on when its not foggy...
obviously you do both of the above0 -
Hi all,
just a quickie, we (me and my nice neighbours) have a horrible man who lives over the road ( we are in a small cul-de-sac with very thin roads, on a 20yo estate) who lives in a slightly larger house with a driveway fit for probably 3 cars but comfortably 3. He has his wifes focus on the drive on its own (WHY?), parks his passat on the road infront of his front garden 9public highway) and his bix TAXI in a visitors parking space!!!!!!! just typing this is making me maaaaad!!!
Our neighbours do this too. They have a large driveway + double garage. The section of the road has only two parking bays on it for a 200m stretch, both coincidentally (or not!, I've no idea why they are there) just outside there house. They carefully park their three cars on the parking bays in preference, and rotate their cars such that when one car leaves the street bay they move the car off the drive to occupy the street bay in preference.
The thing is there is absolutely no pressure on parking on the street, everyone else just parks in their drive, just the pettiness of it irritates me.
FWIW, when we applied for a parking permit in case we have visitors and need to use on of the bays they told us if you have off-street parking you are not allowed one, so these people must have lied to get their TWO permits.0 -
We had a guy down our close cul-de-sac who parked his lorry on the street. I think the rules are different for heavy vehicles, however I called the council and they made him remove it!
Try catching your neighbour out doing something they shouldn't, like parking on the pavement.0 -
Buy an old banger (the grubbier the better) for less than £100, make sure its taxed, MOT'd and your insurance covers you for driving any vehicle and then park it in his place and leave it there for a few months.
I like this a lot. The 1987 Opel Manta GTE in black fits the bill nicely.

Don't forget to put his name on the V5 document.
Dont do this really.0 -

They are a family of four (wife and him 2 kids who are non drivers obv..)
There are a few things i am interested to know and i was wondering whether any of you could shed some light!?
1) should he be able to park a taxi (commercial vehicle) on a visitors parking space?
2) his passat which is big hampers access to the 3 visitors parking spaces directly opposite (very narrow road so getting into the parking spaces is hard with something parked opp..) 1 of these 3 spaces he's using anyway for the bloody taxi. cheek of it.
and
3)have us nice neighbours got any power to make him change his parking habits?
it should defo be mentioned that there are soooooooo not enough parking spaces for the houses without drivways to park eve ONE car per household, let alone 3. Is it fair he does this? no, but is it legal for him to do it - probab-bloody-dy....!!
Oh yes and he also moans if anyone parks in 'his' space on the road out the front of his (the passat space) even though its the pulics highway. I and several other neighbours are resorting to parking round the corner at the end of the road basically right outside of the cul-de-sac itself. Really not nice to park so far away fdrom your house
i guess this is what you get on 'modern' estates with very little allocated spaces.
can anyone advise?
sorry to go on, and sorry for being so ranty!!
Jx:j
What is the deal with the vistors space - surely that is just for visitors and he's breaking some sort of regulation using? As for regular parking, he's entitled to park anything he wants on the public road - as are you. If he keeps complaining about other people taking it up then as another poster says, sympathise but point out that it's a public highway and not his private space and decline to move. After all, he's taking up two spaces on the road.
No reason why you or any of the neighbours should have to park around the corner just to avoid annoying him when he's being inconsiderate himself - consideration has to work both ways.
If you get some visitors around, direct them to park in 'his' place if it's free. Then when he moans politely point out that they would have parked in the visitors place but it always seems to be occupied by his taxi....Hopefully he'll get the message.
Just don't be confrontational or escalate the situation. The last thing you want is a feud and it could affect things when you sell your house (you're supposed to notify sellers of disputes with neighbours). Just be polite but firm.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Running_Horse wrote: »Its obvious from my words, isn't it? Idiot. If you were that great at reading my mind, you would know I don't drive a car. You would also know that not only do people park on the double yellow lines opposite my house, they put all four tyres on the pavement, blocking it completely. You would also know I shrug my shoulders and accept that parking is tight here, and nothing will stop them. Such is life.
You were quite quick to judge the OP though eh.....
