TTM, lol, I was being devious but also stretching the truth a little - some slates had fallen off the back of the house - the roofers had been out and fixed everything :D

I remember something mentioned in paper other day that they are going to clamp down on that.

I get annoyed with idiots who park on pavements for long periods of time, or block places where the council lowered the kerbs for pedestrians.

Matimage - I parked opposite someone's drive once, and the road was quite wide, they reversed out at speed and caved my passenger door in because 'they hadn't expected a car to be parked there'. We both learnt a lesson. If you have protected no claims ....... although I;m not suggesting anything :D

I'm lucky I have a drive big enough for 4 cars easily.

But I don't have car parking for work. Its a almost the town centre so parking can be hard, but I start early.

I hate parking on the residential roads as I feel guilty about it. I only hope I park after they leave for work.

However if I can park on the very limited spaces on the main road I do.
A small bay, big enough for 3 small or 2 large cars.

Anyway parked there one day, last one of three.

Come back car on double yellows is squezzed up to my car 2 inches from bumper.
Asked in the barbers if anyone owns it, its the barbers.
He made me wait till he had finished cutting his customers hair.

Now as he was on double yellows I find that really cheeky.
We both work on that road, one each side of the road. But you could tell from his whole attitude that he thought I was in his space.

I haven't parked there since, because he will block me in again, I've noticed since then he does it to anyone who parks there.
If that space isn't available I park on the residentail streets, but I would rather not because I don't like to bother them.
If that space isn't available for him, he just parks illegally because he can't be bothered to walk to the side roads.

Can I call the police if hes on double yellows blocking me in?
  • I also find people complain, just for the fact they don't like cars being parked. I drive four miles to my daughter's school. It crosses a county boundary so there isn't a school bus. I would like to move to the village, but house prices have risen so much i can't afford to buy yet. There is a road outside the school. We park on the side where there are no houses. I was walking along and an old lady was tutting "looks at all these cars parked" she exclaims. When i explained that i had four miles to get to the school, that i would dearly love nothing more than to walk my children to school and that if house prices were lower i could do that. To that she replied "well i don't mean you!" In other words it annoyed her because she just thought people were being inconsiderate. If all the parents had stood in a line and explained why they parked there to her, she probably wouldn't have meant any of them! Out of all the parents who park there i think the vast majority have a good reason. Many because they don't have the time to walk back home to get the car, and go on to work. It would probably add another half hour to getting to work. Anyhow, the only reason she complained was just because she didn't like it, not because it was blocking anyone's space.

He has no reason to be parked on double yellows - it's illegal. I would call the police. They may be able to explain to him his "parking rights"! Don't submit to this man's bullying tactics - you have as much right to be there as him!

I think the best approach would be to contact the police if he is parking illegally - such as blocking a driveway or parking on the pavement. And do it every time - and ask your neighbours to do it too. There will be a "community" policeperson you could discuss this with - they will have to follow it up at some point.

Also contact your local councillor - they love local "problems" and can help speak to your local council about the visitors space - locally there are visitors passes that have to be displayed in visitors spaces - this came about by the spaces being abused.

Otherwise - he's not doing anything wrong. I have lived in two houses with parking problems - and when buying my third house, off-road parking was high on the list!!

I agree - let the police do their job!!

    Caltrops.

Sprinkle liberally and leave for 24 hours.

Spend at least 2 of those 24 hours infront of a mirror practicing your "Oh my goodness, how dreadful" look. Puppy eyes, raised sypathetic eyebrows and head at a 15% angle works every time.

Parking on double yellows and blocking driveways/pavements is illegal, call the police.

Mind you the police wouldn't come out to me when a drunk was banging on my door at 10pm for half an hour saying he lived there and wanted to come in - so I don;t hold out much hope they'll investigate double yellow parking quickly.

Maybe brief the local traffic warden?

And the drunk? Police rang me half hour after I'd rung and asked me to go outside to check he'd gone !!!!!
