Electricity usage in oil heated homes

To answer the original post; we pay £45per month for electricity. For this, a rural household of two adults and two teenagers we have four bedrooms, two fridges and freezers, TVs and computers. If I was here on my own it would be a lot less!
As a cooker alone the Aga is an extravagance, however it is offset by the fact that other heating is rarely required, you can dry a machineload of washing every night and getting up in the morning is no longer a chore. It positively invites you to do loads of home cooking so there is a saving if you would otherwise be tempted by convenience foods. Wet smelly dogs also dry more quickly!
We used 4000 litres of oil each year in our north facing stone house and had a large electric bill which included using the electric cooker for all our meals and very often the tumble dryer on wet days. After installing a reconditioned Aga, we use the same amount of oil or less and have a lower electricity bill. The house is much warmer and everything is getting done for less monthly outlay.0
