T Mobile Tariffs

Could some explain T Mobiles Tariffs to me, I'm a soon-to-be exOrange customer & have started to look round at plans.
For example their 'Flext 30' 18 month contract says:

Monthly Allowance
£90 (Up to 450mins or 900 texts)

Monthly Charge
£25.00

So does that mean that I get charged £25 pm for the contract, even if I don't use it, as per a normal & then have to pay maximum of £90, like a credit, to get the talk time etc??

As I say I've been with orange & basicly my contract with them is £39.99 pm & call my calls/texts (excluding 08 numbers) are free.

Cheers

Pong

All you pay is £25 a month for that package, whether you use up all the allowance or not.

For that you a get a monthly allowance worth £90 according to them to use up on minutes, texts and picture messages instead of being tied to fixed amounts.

remember to do this online and use quidco.

If you don't need a phone, consider their contract JustSim tariff which gives you a load more minutes for the same price.

Hi & Thanks for the replys I now understand them better, I'll take a looke at quidco. Let me explain below why I'd go for a contract with a new phone included...

My plan is this, see what you think:

Currently I pay 39.99 pm on my Contract. This gives me 200 mins talk time (unused rolls over to the next month) & 60 texts (again rolls over).

For my new contract, I have decided on the phone to upgrade too however, none of the major carriers stock them so I'll have to buy the phone outright, something I'm quite willing to do & I hope to save abit (not alot but abit) of money & maybe make abit too.

    Here is my math;

39.99 x 24 = £959.76 <- This is the total bill for the life of my current contract & reflects the average price of a new contract for my type of phone.
959.76 - 350.00 = £609.76 <- The 350 is the cost of the new phone with no contract.
    609.76 / 18 = £33.88 <- The 18 is the length of the new contract.

So what I've done is take the total cost of my current contract, took away the cost of the new phone & divided the remainder by the length of the new contract to give me (hopefully, if my sums are correct) a target price to pay for the new contract, get under it & I save money while upgrading.

Then to make abit of money back I am free to sell both my current phone & the brand new one that will come with the contract & use the money either as 'pocket money' or to take abit more off the cost of the new contract.

So does that sound about right or have I got my numbers all back to front, upside down & inside out?
Is there anything I may have missed??

    Thanks

    Pong

    What phone is £350?

JustSim tariff recognises you dont get a phone and therefore offer cheaper tariffs. Each tariff generally gives x4 more minutes/texts than flext to the £.

Justsim isnt a lock in either, you can quit when you want.

You can also go through quidco for extra money.

    I'll look further into JustSim's.

    The phone is a E-Ten Glofiish X650, I currently have a Orange SPV M500.
  • looks an interesting phone indeed!
May I ask why you prefer this to the TYTN 2?
Is it the VGA or slim form factor? Would miss the QWERTY keyboard though.
    ... and only 2.5G

Well I had a number of things my new phone needed to have, one of the requirements was that it wasn't a physically big device (it happens to be almost excally the same size as my M500) - the Tytan II was in my finial 3 phones.
Around where I live 3G coverage isn't great & I know I would never use the Video calling so there was no point having it unless the phone happen to come with it.
The qwerty keyboard would have been nice but to be honset I've survived 24 months without one so it wasn't a nesseccity.
The VGA screen also helps sell the device as does the FM transmitter, a handy feature indeed.
The other device that was in the listing was the i-mate Ultimate 9502, only downside is price and size.
  • FM transmitter is a great feature built-in. If it had a keyboard and 3g, it really would be top of the pile.
Just a word of warning though, as I'm sure its been resolved now, but an issue may exist on t-mobile with Eten devices:
    Check this out http://www.modaco.com/content/Pocket-PC-Professional-News/251750/Eten-Glofiish-X500-and-M700-T-Mobile-UK-users-beware/

    Another useful resource might be:
    http://eten-users.eu/

The Imate looks interesting too, but a bit pricey and looks too much like the Sidekick which seems a bit flimsy. Sounds quite feature packed if a little on the large size.

I'm waiting for an insurance claim on my lost HTC Wizard before either taking the tm upgrade to TYTN2 or buy one sim free and reduce tarriff. The annoying thing is, there are two or three devices out there that nearly have everything like the E-ten and TYTN2 but just miss one killer feature that the other has - ho hum!
