    Hi Dragonwings
Glad you felt able to post.
Sorry things are so tough for you at the mo.
People can get DLA for similar difficulties to yours.
Make sure you get someone who knows the way to fill in the forms to help you with them.
Would your GP be able to give you another 'line' wth something else on it?
If so, you could put in a new claim for Incapacity.
    Have you considered going bankrupt?
If you dont think your circumstances will change its worth a thought.
    Take care

Hi, glad lots of nice people are chatting to you on here there is such a wealth of knowledge and support. I found out about disability benefits I was entitled to years ago by phoning a disability help line in the front yellow pages, can't find a book at the mo but will keep looking. I had hit rock bottom and they pointed me in the right direction, just keep asking and somone will have the right advice. When you do fill in any forms, they can make you feel down but keep going I was always told to answer as if it was my worst day and even if I could do things to remember that if it took me longer than somone else or if it had to be done a certain way because of what ever your disability put the facts down. Also always make copies of the forms you send in, then if you have to re apply or appeal you have all the information at hand.

Hi beanielou... thanks for your message
I am taking steps to apply for the DLA, my first job tomorrow is to get advice from the CAB on how to do that properly, or at least who can help me. Another port of call is a Welfare Rights Officer...so hopefully one of those two will lead me in the right direction

And maybe I'm a little too proud but yes I have considered bankruptcy, but it seems to me a really huge step so I want to keep it as a last resort, but its there in the back of my mind! Will need to see how things go..

    Thanks again

    Hi huxley

Yes the forms are very depressing to fill in, evening imagining myself on my worst day I still couldn't honestly answer "yes" to a lot of the questions, so I filled in the extra evidence part with as much detailed info as possible, had a visit with their medical doctor, and told her all the same things and they still rejected me
I am a little worried that my appeal made me sound like a broken record ~ maybe I should have had help with that. I wasn't going to appeal at all but I can't live with myself if I just lie down and let them win. I guess it's probably too late to add anything to it, but as far as I know I may be able to appeal again... this is all so tiring and depressing but I'm on the rollercoaster now:confused:

Asking for help from the boards was a good move it seems.. everyone has been so helpful and supportive so I will soldier on as best I can

    Thank you!

Just wanted to say hello again. Hope you are feeling better today.

I never realised what an affect debt can have on your mind, so I am hoping that once you get the finances a bit better, you will feel stronger over all.

I read through a little bit on here, and the information is brilliant. Hoping that you can find some that is useful to your situation.

Anyways...just wanted to say again you are not alone.

So have I got thios right then?
You applied for DLA , it was refused and you asked them to look at decision again, refused.
So u are now thinking of going to appeal?
If yes, speak to Welfare Rights/CAB tomorrow to see if they can help
    HTH
As you say just keep bankrupcy at the back of your mind.
At one time that was the advice if circumstances were unlikely to change/debts take more than 5 years to repay(other factors as well)
    HTH too!

Sorr beanielou.. I think things have gotten a little confused in all the posts... I was on Income Support until they decided to send me a form to fill in. Once they had that back, they set up an appointment for a medical by a doctor. She came and asked loads of questions. Then I heard nothing until the first week of January when I got a letter saying that they had decided I was fit for work and had cut me off. I phoned and was told I could appeal the decision, by filling in another form, which I just did this week. I was told during yet another phone call that I could apply for reduced rate Income Support to tide me over until the appeal was seen to. Its only today I found out about DLA, and by the time I was done my "essentials" for the day it was too late to call anyone to ask about it.
In fact I think I have found out a whole lot of stuff today that I need to speak to someone about how best to move forward. If the DLA truly is something I can apply for and it doesn't affect anything else then I suppose that is my next move.

I hope this clears things up a little... I know I'm confused, you guys must be totally baffled heh ;)

    Hi ohno

I'm hoping that is the case .. when I know my finances are ok - at least for the time being, I do tend to feel like I can cope with the other areas of my life, as I was just saying to someone today.. when the finances are bad, it makes everything else ten times worse and I'm sure I'm not the only one

I agree about the advice I've been given already today, I am bowled over at the amount of support I've received, and the useful practical advice too.. and I'm really grateful ~ I'm really glad I took the plunge and asked for support :)

    Thanks!
