Need to know things get better...

Hi everyone

I've been on and around this site for the past few months, and I've posted occasionally.

This time I could really use some moral support if anyone would be so kind.

I'm divorced, living in a room in a house for which I need HB to help me pay for. . I am 95% housebound and until recently was getting Income Support because I am too ill to work. They have since decided I am actually fit for work which has forced me to get work in assembling parts for a local factory at home, which doesn't pay as Income Support did at the rate I can get the parts to assemble. My main love is writing but owing to severe stress and nil confidence in my ability I haven't written anything lately. I don't feel there is any hope of getting work writing from home because all of the scams, and con artists all claiming they can write. I want to make little knitwear accessories too, but the assembling parts takes so much time.
I'm struggling to pay off debts in the thousands including a credit card.
I'm not like this normally but I have been ill for so long and suffered so many setbacks that I feel like I am drowning.
Christmas just gone was my lowest point. Just recently I had to go on anti-depressants as a last resort and I have an appointment for councelling but it didn't help that much last time I had it.

I feel so alone and lost that I'm running out of will to live. I could keep going if I knew there was a point to all this. Just knowing that things can get better would help me kick myself up the backside..

Thanks for your time.

Hiya. Just wanted to say chin up!

I am not great support at the moment, but remembering a friend telling me that when you hit rock bottom, the only way is up!

Pm me if you need it at any time. I will be back to full strength soon soon! And able to be there for support.

In the meantime we can sit in this muddle and just laugh at each other. How does that sound?
  • hey there;

Sounds like you are going through a really really tough time there.

But before I say anything else; things will get better, and it's partly recognising this which can help you get through the dark bits.

First off, why not post a current SOA? I'm assuming you've done one before as you are a DFW in the 600s whilst I am in the 700s!! Then people might be able to help and see bits that have been missed/could be changed.

And there's that benefits calulator... I don't know what it's called! Entitled To, https://www.entitledto.co.uk ; you might be able to get DLA (which you can get and work at the same time, the idea behind it is to make getting to work a little easier.

Also have a look at support groups/charities for your health problems, they often have grants to help when things get tough (been there done that!)

Hope to hear from you soon; and I'm sure everyone here will help see you through this!!

    Sorry you are feeling down.

As Suggested post an SOA and we will do all we can to help.

If you are not feeling any better after taking anti-depressants for a wee while go back to your GP, you may need the medication tweaking a wee bit.

    look forward to your SOA.

  • Thank you all ~ ohno and always_amazed and Merlot ~ for your replies. It's really good to know that there's someone out there. I will certainly post an SOA as soon as I can, possibly tomorrow.
I think I have cut back everywhere I can and now I need to look at extra income, but maybe you will spot something I missed.

And I have no clue what DLA stands for but I will look into that too, and the websites for my health issues.

Thanks again, I think I am in a slightly better frame of mind than I was earlier, just knowing there's folks out there helps

Your not on your own, we can help.

If you need to vent then do so on this thread, it helps sometimes.

I look in tomorrow and see if I can offer any advice on your SOA.

Sleep well and try not to worry.

p.s.I found this about DLA. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DG_10011731

Welcome Dragonwings - it sounds like you are having a tough time at the minute. Just to let you know you are not alone - you will find lots of help and support on this board.

As others have said put up your SOA to see if people can help you cut back anywhere. I would also suggest contacting the CCCS regarding your debts. You can also contact the CAB who will help you ensure that you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to. See the sticky at the top of the board for newcomers - it will have all the links you need.

    Keep posting x x

    Morning Dragonwings,

Just wanted to say that by posting on here you WILL get lots of support, make some new friends and get a lot of really good advice. Please try to post as and when you can with updates of how you are feeling, what you may have done/need to do and anything else that you want to put. There is always someone around to offer words of comfort and advice, or just to make you smile or laugh.

Good luck and I hope that everything works out for you:grouphug:

  • Good morning, how are you doing today?

Just wanted to let you know DLA is 'Disability Living Allowance'; it's not much but it's a weekly allowance, tested on a sliding scale of how much you can do, and the dea of it is to make your life a little easier, here is the link here

If that doesn't work, you can find it on the https://www.direct.gov.uk website.
    Look forward to thats SOA!!!
