Broadband Basic constant loss of connection

For a week now I constantly lose connection from mid afternoon onwards. BT are in denial saying it must be a fault in the house. OK, so the fault only appears at their busiest time? Anyone else suffering the same? Isn't their customer support the worst?

Hi Baysiboy
I had a problem where it kept on disconnection when I joined E7EVEN on May 20th. Read this thread. It turned out some wire was hanging on lost thread in some green BT box near by.

I had the same problem too - and the only way I could get it resolved was to disconnect my internal phone extensions as BT said they must be the cause. I didn't really understand this as the problem happened only in afternoon/evening but it did fix the problem. My guess is that the signal is very weak in this area, and that at peak times it is not strong enough to cope with a noisy internal line . It would be good if a BT engineer (there must be some on MSE) could explain this ?
I recently replugged my internal extensions and it is alright now, so maybe there was a wire hanging in my local exchange too !To infinity and beyond!0 -
Are you using some kind of extension cable?0

Thanks for the replies. I am using an extension cable but it is the same one that I have been using for the last couple of years. The cable hasn't been moved and the phones remain the same. I have changed the filters and I have tried removing all phones, also my Sky box has been disconnected. Still the frequent disconnections occurred. Today I switched on my broadband at 7am and it has remained on without any disconnection but then the problem only starts around mid afternoon and then continues into the evening. Two days ago someone in BT said they would contact me yesterday evening. Yesterday a BT employee said they would get a care engineer to call me. Just as well I didn't hold my breath as I've not heard a word from anyone. Any more suggestions?0

We are with virgin.net and have been experiencing frequent disconnections.
We altered the way the filter fitted and also downloaded new drivers for The Alcatel modems. This seemed to work, but tonight it has disconnected again. This is the first time since weekend.0 -

Have you tried plugging into the real master socket hidden behind the faceplate of your main extension ?To infinity and beyond!0 -
Hi all.
Is this weird or what? Yesterday and so far today everything has been fine. Still waiting, of course, for BT to phone me.0 -
We have this problem at minute, we've just moved to V21.
Had it when when first had wanadoo a couple of years ago as well.
We are at the far end of exchange and always wondered if this has anything to do with it. Also when weather is rubbish it plays up.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
I have been facing the same problem, with tesco broadband since about 10 days. I have had a lot of dropped coneections all through the day. I also have another weird problem since i took broadband an tear ago.
I have the filter attached to the modem and also a telephone. And every time i have to connect to the internet (broadband), i have to first take the reciever of my phone off the hook, which seems to activate my broadband line (the flashing green light of my thompson modem goes constant).
It is only then that i can log onto my broadband connection.
Anyone had similar experience?0
