Locked Mobile Phone

HI All,
I have a mobile phone contract with T-Mobile, and recently got a new phone on the contract. I would like to re-use the other phone but only as a PAYG with Orange, so that I can get the cinema tickets offer. Is it incumbent upon T-Mobile to give me the restriction code for the phone if I ask? Otherwise it is just sitting there doing nothing.... actually I have 2 old mobiles....
My phone is a Nokia 5140i. Just 'phoned T-Mobile and they want £15 for the "Subsidy Unlocking Code" which they have to buy from Nokia. What a rip off.... I am sure there must be somewhere on the web where I can get that info.... just haven't found it yet.
Cheers
Andy

Have you tried a sim card for another network in your phone to check it isnt unlocked already. I recently bought a PAYG that was supposedly locked to Vodafone but it turns out it is unlocked to al networks
Alternatively have a look at this thread on the telephones board

The phone I have was on T-Mobile network, and inserting the Orange card it says network is unavailable. But it works with my T-Mobile card so it is locked.

Usually its says enter the subsidy code when you put another sim card in. I would switch it off with the sim card in and switch back on again.Maybe walk around to see if you can get a signal.0

Yeah it says "Phone Restricted" and you have the option to "Undo". I guess I'll have to search the link in the other post in case a subsidy code is there for the 5140i.0

Same web page as fishfinger said about .You can unlock it your self for free. Make sure you know how to do it,as i think 3 attempts and mobile is blocked .
