in Mobiles
hi. i have a nokia 3410 whick i am having problems unlocking. after entering the code i get the message that no restrictions apply yet it still shows the t-mobil logo and will not accept my virgin sim. another post suggested that this maybe because the phone was reported lost or stolen. It was indeed reported lost. Is there someway to unlock this phone? would t-mobil be able to do it?
any thoughts. thanks

as directed i used a code ending in +2# but got the same result. a message saying' "phone was not restricted" (or something to that effect-cant remember exactly) put in my virgin sim, enter pin, searches, connects, says t-mobile.(cyber GSM v.5.4 suggests t-mobile may use one2one. my last motorola using virgin sim would say one2one not virgin) i can access saved texts but cannot send them and when i make a call i get engaged tone then cuts off. when trying to call this mobile from another phone it goes straight to voicemail. I have tried changing the network provider in the phone settings but has nothing for virgin or one2one on the manual setup and the auto setup always picks t-mobile.
any thoughts what i should do?

Phone is probably been reported as lost/stolen.
The big scam is for sellers (ebay, free adds, pubs, etc) is to show you the phone working, you pay the pennies for the phone and it works fine.....what you don't realise that in a few days they will report it lost/stolen and then the imei gets barred on the network they had it on. Some providers will pass on the imei straight away to other providers and it will stop working imeadiately...some providers pass on the imei a few days later....although it seems unusual for this to occur on a phone which would only cost £19.99 brand new :O
With T-mobile (one2one) if the phone has been barred you can usually send and receive texts, but when you try to ring out the phone will give the engaged tone...If I remember correctly I think vodafone does the same.
To test the phone to see if it's unlocked, try another sims card from a different provider, orange is a good one to try...if it comes up with registration problems it's definately *warm*
The 3410 can have the imei changed as it's a dct3 model, but this involves having the right cables, software and someone prepared to do it for you which is highly unlkely as being caught doing this can result in imprisonment/ £1000+ fineWelcome, rogerramjet.

I think if that happened to me I'd report them for fraud to the Police and the network. Get a receipt0
