I thought there was a 1000 pound fine if you don't inform the DVLA of a change of address:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

Potentially. However, the DVLA are rubbish at handling post, and if the OP did, in fact, send off the required documents, but the DVLA lost them, then there may well be a loophole which the OP could exploit to their advantage. :A0 -

i am assuming that when you say the required documents, you mean the application for the new licence, if thats so, and DVLA somehowmanaged to loose them, how can I take advantage of that fact for the incorrect name issue. Or is it that we are then just buying more time for ourselves???

I'm trying to remember when they ask for the licence. Assuming they don't want it now just wait the 28 days and then send of the NIP. In the meantime sort the licence out (you are going to have to this at some stage anyway).
If you really want to keep things simple it might be better just sorting out the speeding ticket in maiden name. The only fly in that ointment might be the address on the licence.
I have just checked mine and it is still at my mother's address from 10 years ago after I sold my house (but at least I can access mail from her) ad I have had points in the meantime.
I have just looked at mine and there is no date of issue on it.
So either reply in maiden name if address matches or mail can be retrieved or if tha is not possible then just try ad get licence sorted out (keep a photo copy might help but at least a note of licence number for any jobsworth that might start asking for it too early especially if DVLA are slow)
Well I have the option of using my wifes maiden details as mail can be retrieved easily but i would rather get the licence updated first.
any idea how long it normally takes for a new licence to come through??0 -

You can't. I think Markyt was saying that the DVLA *losing* your 'change of details' application might get you out of the 'licence in wrong name at wrong address' issue.
"I don't know what happened. We sent off my wife's licence to get it updated, but never got it back"
Obviously that won't work if you still have the licence in your possession, or if you send it now.
(I don't condone this, by the way.)
You might have to pay for a replacement licence. It won't negate the need for her to take the speeding points either.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

You'll have to notify your insurers too. If the premium goes up due to this, you can bill the wife for it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

in reality when does one have to notify DVLA of a change in name/address, i mean is there a time limit for this to be done by?0 -
