A quick note about Ruth...

I was a little upset to read someone saying "whats the point about Ruth?" in the feedback. So I thought I should answer it with a bit of info about ol' Ruth Liptrot
Ruth is a fantastic reporter with a real wit. In fact it was me who wanted her to come and do the programme.
She's there for a number of reasons.
1. Just my voice for half an hour is a lot
2. My time is very limited so Ruth doing some films means we can get more outside stuff and variety.
3. She's a lot funnier than I am - and a TV programme is about shades of light as well as dark
4. I'm an obsessive about my job - someone needs to be there to represent a more normal view point. Ruth's a journalist so can pick up things quickly - but she's not an expert - and thus is never there to give expert info.
5. It allows us to format the programme more. E.g. in the MoneySAving news - ruth reads the facts - then I give the analysis
6. She's a wonderful buffer for me - to give me someone to play off.
7. One person doing a whole half hour live show (or as live in our case) is a nightmare. Most people who do it are interviewers - not imparting the whole of the info. Ruth being there gives me space to think and prepare for the next subject
8. She's cool.
Now of course we've a learning experience. I suspect one reason this was said is sometimes (like in IPTW More) she stood there for large chunks without saying anything. That's actually not her fault more the direction and when it happens again she should (and will) move off camera.
And yes, both Ruth and I have read the feedback about the blouse; well ok, it should've bene tucked in a bit more. Yet under the pressure of the situation, and our massive first show nerves, it was missed.
Ruth's a lovely person though & this'll show on screen and through the series my bet is you'll learn to love her - and by programme 10 won't care about the odd untucked button

When I read the comments about Ruth, I must admit I thought People were being rather unkind, and just judging the Lady purely on Her clothes, which was not justified at all.
It was obvious that you were both rather nervous, being the first Show, and I personally think you both did a superb job, and I was buzzing with your enthusiam which abounded from start to finish!
I am really looking forward to the next 9 Shows...
I wish you both the very best of luck with this Series, and look forward to the next one.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
Well if people are going to slag Ruth off for her blouse then you may as well take me off the old styler slot as i'll get slaughtered. My hair is always out of place, I'm wearing my scraggy old coat when I show off my hens and I have no dress sense whatsoever
I hadnt noticed Ruth's blouse so I watched it again... and still couldnt see what the fuss was about
I'm nervous now about being on the show if i'm going to be judged on my appearance. I thought it was going to be about how to save money and make life easier. If I wanted to watch a fashion show I'd have been recording America's next top model.
Good luck tomorrow night guys0 -

Don't think that everyone judges on appearance...
I certainly do not, like you I hadn't even noticed Ruths Blouse, and still can't see any big deal about it after watching My recording of The Show!
Do go along, and enjoy yourself...
What the heck does it matter if small minded People want to criticize someones attire...
Have fun and I do hope you enjoy meeting Martin!
I wish I could go to the Show, I really do.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -

Well said Martin, :T
I thought Ruth was the perfect foil for your style, and that she came across as warm, funny and intelligent.
I didn't notice her clothes at all - but then I tend to be more interested in what a woman has to say than what she's wearing. (I'm a grumpy old feminist and not part of the Paris / Posh Spice / Colleen generation.)
So give Ruth a hug from me and tell her I'm looking forward to "her bits" on tonights programme. As far as I'm concerned she can wear a Mr Blobby suit if she likes.

I did post a earlier re-buff about Ruth on one of the other threads, but it seems to have dissapeard?
I met Ruth when IPTW filmed me at home & she was lovely, worked really hard to put me at my ease & had a fab sense of humour. Admitedly she did seem a bit out of place at times during last weeks show but I put that down to it being the 1st show & both presenters needing to find the flow a bit more, no doubt she will fit in more each week.
And she has a fab figure & I thought she showed it off really well......wish I had her waist & boobs!:o:rotfl:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
