Hi,
Hoping someone can offer advice so that I don't end up with another redundant phone! I would really like to get the K850i but I use a Mac. I've had a look on the net and there seems to be lots of stuff around to sync contacts but no info on how easy it is to manage photos. I only want this phone for the camera, but it will be useless if it doesn't easily 'talk' to my mac. Has anyone got this combination or knows if this will be possible? Will I need to buy a card reader?
Thanks for reading

If the Mac can identify the drive in it, it will work simply as a removable hard drive. Check if the mac is compatible with the Sony Ericsson Phone Suite, if it is then the phone should connect to the Mac via the usb.0

I use an imac and have a 750i.
The imac has bluetooth and so does the phone, it's very easy to download photo's to the mac and then open iphoto.
I also have a card reader and as the 750i (don't know about the 850i) has it's memory slot easily accessible it's just a case of popping it out of the phone into the card reader and opening iphoto to transfer the photo's, this is the quickest way.
Hope that helps.

K810i and a PowerBook - downloaded software to sync calendar and contacts etc and transfer pictures using Bluetooth. Easy peasy

Dook, SNAP. I see you got your k850i yesterday, so did I.
I had a contract with Vodaphone and was due for an upgrade, but they wanted to charge me £29 for the phone. I called in phones4u and they said I could have one free, all I had to do was to take out/continue my contract with them. How about you?
Now that you've had time to play with the phone, what do you make of it. I have to say my concern about the sensor touch spots were unfounded as it's easy to lock them.
I intend making a note of things I don't understand and asking in the shop.
Two things I'm worried about, one is, is it possible to click on something, ie net, and find I'm paying for that connection. I don't intend surfing on the phone so would wish to avoid that.
The other is that there is an icon on the top which is of a phone with a red cross on it. What does that mean?
I've yet to find an on-line explanitary book on how the phone operates, I know we have the book, but I like to read it in larger print. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Alreet guys
Just picked up my k850i today. A mate hooked me up with a staff deal on O2. Bargain!
islandman: I think the phone with the red cross you're referring to is the one on your taskbar, right? I think that means that SE PC suite is running somewhere in the background and your phone isn't connected to your computer. Don't think it's anything to worry about.
Hope that helps dude

Russ, yes and almost yes. There is a red cross on an icon on the task bar which identifies itself as Sony Ericsson PC Suite, but the one that I was concerned about is on the phone itself next to the signal strength.
At this early stage, it is a concern the the printed numerals on each key is feint. You need to revlove the phone a bit to catch the light to see each numeral yes?.
Which key are you supposed to use to bring the phone to life?
After taking a pic, there is a few seconds whilst the pic is stored, I then touch the sensor pad "back" to enable another pic to be taken, is this right? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
