There is no application form available to pre-complete in this case. I went into a branch on Wednesday and asked for a form - they said it's appointment only.

I've just managed to book an appointment for Monday (Saturday all booked up)

I'm booked in for Wednesday. I guess this appt restriction may prolong the availability of the account. If not I'll have some other ideas in reserve :)

I wonder just how hard they're going to try to sell us their other products....:(
  • This Poster didnt believe that their would be a significant uptake yet. ( Best Buy Tables is best advert a product can get. ;) )

As it's a branch based account and as it's not been much publicised yet (ie weekend press) and as it's not blindingly obvious on the website then I suspect it will be several more days at least before they get significant uptake (and after all, it appears they do need the cash more than most).

    My appointment is for 45mins!!!!

I hope to be out alot quicker than that.

They are not making a feature of the bond on their website - it doesn't even get a feature on the 'savings' homepage - you have to find it in the products table.

Reference my previous posting on this.I went into my local branch and asked about opening a 1yr 7% fixed rate bond, the young lady asked me if I was an existing A&L customer, when I confirmed this she stated that the minimum deposit for existing customers was £10,000 .As I did not have £10k,hence the exclamation mark.
    Was she correct?

My guess: Either (a) making it up or (b) got the decimal point in the wrong place.

My partner opened a bond at the same time as I did. She is an existing customer of A&L and she was told that the minimum deposit was £1000. The only condition was that the money had to come from an account other than a A&L one.
