Help with memory on a Motorola V3

I had (actually still have) a pink Motorola V3, I've had it unlocked, I've had it so long I can't remember who it was locked too.

I love(d) it. But it was a bit battered looking & the battery was starting to not charge as full, so I bought the exact same phone in silver locked to Tesco & had it unlocked.

I'm constantly running out of text message memory space, it doesn't hold 20 text messages (& that includes sent ones too). So if I get & reply to 10 text messages I'm running out of space & can't receive any more untill I delete (or clean up as it calls it) the text messages.
My old phone stored so many this never happened.

Also on the oldones I had loads of songs stored to use as ring tones & message tones. This new phone holds one song, that it!!!

Its the same phone, so whats going on. Is it something to do with the tesco software or is it faulty?

What can I do (apart from go back to the old phone, LOL).
