I've been told recently it takes around a month for your credit report to be updated. Check the article about the free credit check if you want to see your own.

I've just taken out a Barclay and been given a 10K limit, but their T&C say that I can only do a balance transfer for 50% of this at 0%, and any amount over this will be charged at 6.9%. Standard clause applies that all payments will go against the lowest interest amount so basically if I balance transfer the maximum I'll get right royally shafted.

Still to call their CS dept to confirm, if they say anything different, I'll repost.

Something strange is going on here, they seem to be going to the extremes of 'responsible lending' ...

I got offered a credit limit of £5K, with 95% available for balance transfer at 0%. So I ring up to do a transfer, and get told the rate will be 6.9%.

The advisor's grasp of English was rather limited, and when I tried to question this he seemed to just chuckle, then put me on hold, came back and said no, computer definitely says 6.9%, and when I asked if I could speak to someone else he against just chuckled. I felt like Jeremy Beadle was going to jump out at me!

So I asked the advisor to register a complaint for me, and a few days later received a letter saying that they needed to investigate and I would receive another letter by 3rd January (this was early December). What do they need to investigate?!! Anyway, last week I got another letter saying they were still investigating(?!!) and I should hear by the end of the month!

Sounds like a very busy complaints department ...
    Gone ... or have I?

TOLD THEm IN NO CERTAIN TERMS WHERE THEY CAN SHOVE THIER CARD AND THEIR BANKS

I understand how annoyed you feel but you have taken your anger out of some poor advisor who is just relaying the information. You need to write the policy makers or complaints dept.

I applied for their Platinum card and got an £11K limit! They then reduced it to £9K and a bit as a 'credit crunch' review...but I had been a customer previously and always pay off in full, so maybe that was something to do with it?

i heard martin on jeremy vine on this very subject.
he talked of peoples being 'demoted' down the credit levels over what they previously could get.
stating that CC tarting is 2007 and fixed low rates for longer periods is the way to go
