  • before chucking them, it might be worth finding out if any are worth money by doing internet searches. My dad chucked loads lately, and then saw one of the titles he threw away on ebay, going for £10 cause it was rare.

  • I've got a load of dad's army videos which I was considering selling as a set, I've probably got about 20 or so to sell as I (along with most people it seems) have upgraded to dvd. Am weighing up putting them on ebay or saving them for a car-boot sale!
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

  • I have an original Star Wars VHS, how would I go about finding its value before I chuck it in the bin?

Stick it on ebay with a starting price of 1p ;)

It only seems to be certain disney ones that are sought after, especially "Song of the South", other than that its probably £1 each if that.

I sold DD's entire collection last year, 75 videos and raised £45, but she had nothing especially rare. List them as a lot for collection and see what happens :)

Look for completed listings on ebay and also check out the isbn on Amazon. However, from experience I can assure you it is worthless.

  • In my area videos do still sell at boot sales, especially kids' tapes, but not for much: 3 for £1 or 4 for £1 is usual, maybe a little more for Disney. Kids' videos are always popular in my local Freeshare (similar to Freecycle) group.
As for eBay, Amazon and any other mail-order outlets, the only ones likely to sell are those which are not available on DVD (which I think still includes some of the older Doctor Who ones and a few Disney titles among other things).
