Trying to do a bit of a clearout and am wondering if its even worth trying to sell VHS video tapes?
I have loads, at least 3 boxes full that haven't seen the light of day in 4 years and probably never will...
Had a look on ebay and there seem to be a few but none with any bids on them.
Should I accept its an outdated technology and noone will pay for them and just give/throw them away/stick them on freecycle.

I've been clearing out and just put mine in the bin or gave the decent ones to a charity shop.0

I couldn't even give mine away and reluctantly had to bung them in a skip and dump them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I doubt very much you will sell them on E-Bay, if you are doing a car boot in the spring, then keep them until then, we sold a few last year at a car boot but only for 50p each."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. I freeycled a loads of videos recently. They were very popular. Mind you, they were all children's videos - Disney and stuff like that.0

The original Star Wars videos can go for decent money as collectors buy them. This is because they are the original format and have the original Anakin Skywalker in the 6th film as opposed to the re-vamped issues available later. I did sell others before Christmas but they were old Barney and Disney ones - guess these can fetch some money.
It does make you wonder when CDs will become obsolete now we have downloads, and when to sell them off before it's too late. I had a clear out of un-listened to CDs last year as well and the market was very slow, so it'll probably get worse.
With that in mind everyone should clear out the CDs they no longer listen to before technology chases them away too!0 -
Hmm, good point with the CDs.
Ha, the Star Wars set (original, non CGI twiddled with) was the only ones I wanted to keep!
Think I have Fantasia and Lion King though...Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0 -
I'd buy Lion King from you. Too cheap to buy the triple added everything DVD set (or whatever it is) and I have a brand new VCR that shouldn't give out for a few years yet"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Car boot sales are the best for them. We did one last summer and I think ended up doing 4 for a £1 just because we cannot watch them anymore.
eBay is not worth it as you will not get much money and the listing costs will make it pointless.0 -
The postage rate on ebay kills them off completely - they are large packet sized and over the 250g mark, so the cost of postage even on a 1p listing is more than their market value.
If you have the time and inclination though, stick the titles into an ebay search to see how many DVD versions are for sale. If there are not many, then consider listing those ones - there are still a LOT of older, or non-blockbuster VHS titles that are not available on DVD, so collectors will still buy them.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
ive recently given a large box full to the charity shop.
good titles too, the matrix, godfather set of 3, and so on.
vhs are not worth anything on ebay nor car boots now.Get some gorm.0
