I've started to receive spam emails like the one below.
What actually happens to your details if you reply as the request?
There are no banking details requested so do they simply steal your identity for passports, credit cards, etc?

Can someone explain the point of this? Surely people simply set up a spam filter or simply delete emails of this kind. I assumed that they were really after you personal details for some reason...

Even if you don't fall for the scam, you might well respond to the email. That makes it a valid, live email that they can sell to other spammers - all in the best traditions of marketing!0 -
What actually happens to your details if you reply as the request?
Telephone numbers are always useful to scammers. They can then call you and pressurise you constantly to get more cash from you. A lot of the info there is useful to them, (maiden name for example) as these are often used as bank password checks. More info will be gotten from you when you give them your bank details (as obviously they'll need these to deposit your 'winnings'), etc etc.
The more info they have, the more thay can use against you, and the more its worth to other scammers.0 -

They'll probably ask for an admin or processing fee. And yes spam does work, you only need a tiny percentage of people falling for them to make a huge profit. If spam didn't work do you think the spammers would really bother with either using the server power to send the spam themselves or setting up the complex botnets to use other people's infected pcs to send out the spam? Spammers earn hundreds of thousand to millions."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
