i wonder if martin lewis will now withdraw his recommendation of the site ?

anyway, i think the way that some people will have to look at the site from now on is to work out a minimum number of songs per day at the 2 star rate of 5p a song.

so, for example, if you set 50 as your target and you can remain at 2 stars, you'll earn £2.50 per day.

if you're someone like me, who uses the money month to month to cover some bills, I've worked out that at the 2 star rate, i can cover my mobile bill mid month, and while my cable bill at the end of the month won't be fully covered from now on, it will still be in the region of £20 quid, providing i stick to 50 songs a day at 5p per song.

anything over and above that - if i can get back up to 4 stars and 10p a song - will just be a bonus.

if you approach it like that, then i do find it becomes a lot less stressful. obviously if you drop to a single star then there's a problem, but i think as long as you spread the ratings around, then you'll at least probably stabilise at 2 stars.

i've been thinking like this today and rating how i feel and it's not really bothered me as much as it used to.

I just dropped below 85% and went straight back down to 2 stars, the next track I was over 85% and back up to 3 stars.

I'm confident of being able to maintain a 2 star average, and to be honest, its what I have always based my thinking on.

Lol jason tell me about it.. few days ago i was giving honest reviews and ratings and hitting 90 +% accuracy.. im down to 2 stars now and on about 81%

i managed to hit 79% accuracy about 10 minutes ago

as i said over on their forum, this new system apparently is telling me that i don't like all music ...

i'm willing to wait though to see if it does stabilise - it was as bad as this, if not worse, on the day that V2 launched and that did tend to even itself out after about a fortnight - albeit even itself out into the 4-7 bracket.

it does seem though, that on the face of it you're no longer allowed to rate an average song average if you want to keep your stars.

the accuracy does no longer seem to be closely linked to stars - it appears the stars are won and lost based on the ratings.

i've read of some people giving a couple of 9's and 10's - even though the song didn't deserve it - and getting their 4th star back.

Right its nearly 3am and i had a good bash at this tonight. Sadly could not get back to my 3 or 4 stars so only 5p per track with my rating sinking rising sinking etc..

Mine as of a few minutes ago. Like Jason says, I'm just hapy as long as i'm earning something - I t hink as long as you have an idea in your head that you've had a reasonable spread over the past 30 songs you'll be OK. THe bell curve theory means that you can still rate more in the 4-7 range as they know there will naturaly be more there, an d not be penalised. I was rating pretty honestly last night - just trying to keep my ratings more spread out than before. Seemed to work.

well here's an interesting statistic .. the member who reached 5 stars has only review .. 2,419 songs

i think that's quite incredible, and not because i've reviewed nearly a 1000 songs more than she has !

i think it's a real slap in the face of the scouts there who have reviewed upwards of 10,000 songs and have never had that fifth star.
