Wow well done! I got a fiver then stopped lol. Plan to get back into it now tho, even if just a few songs a day\\ Debt Free April 2008 //\\ Single Mummy to 1 boy - 4 years & 5 months old //\\ Last weeks spend: £139.39 - 2 NSDs //0 -

Yeah, each time I sit down I tell myself to only do ten songs in one sitting as it can get tedious and sometimes I feel like I go braindead when the songs all start to sound the same. :rotfl: But it can add up quickly and it's extra money and especially as Christmas is coming up every little helps. Good luck to you and keep at it.0 -

I had this a few weeks ago - i usually spend 2 hours a day reviewing, and one particular day was very, very hard. it was just never ending "acoustic" songs, all sounding the same and all sounding progressively worse than the last one.
I was just surprised I managed to write something different about each one0 -

Haha I kno what you mean! Ive made it my aim to do at least 5 songs a day now tho, even if it is jus 5. That way I dont get too bored and begin writing the same thing!!\\ Debt Free April 2008 //\\ Single Mummy to 1 boy - 4 years & 5 months old //\\ Last weeks spend: £139.39 - 2 NSDs //0 -
Best advice I have seen was by a fellow scout and for the life of me I can't remember who, he wrote a list of what to think about when writing and I always open up this list when I'm struggling and I will post it in the hopes it might help other people and here it is...
* Is everyone in tune? (guitars, vocalists etc.)
* Is the drummer playing in time?
* Is the mix good? (i.e. all instruments audible?)
* Timing, precision, musicianship (though some would say that's subjective)
* Melody / harmony / rhythm - good, bad, lilting, easy to sing a long with?
* Lyrics - thought-out, generic, incomprehensible, humorous? (I sometimes pick out a line that I particularly like)
* Vocal quality - sweet, strong, enraged?
* Delivery - raw, lacking emotion, dull
* Tone of instruments - harsh, soft, gentle, dynamic, flowing, stilted
* Tempo / beat - fast / slow, how does it fit the mood? Indeed...
* Mood - cheery, uplifting, melancholy
* How does the track make me feel?
* Does it remind me of anything / one (i.e. places, other artists, films etc.)
* How could the song be improved? What would you like to hear more/less of?
* Hit?
Overall impression --- Good bits --- Bad bits --- Possible improvements --- Conclusion

the thing i find works is to think of it as you're telling a mate about a really good record you heard and he/she asks "what's it like then?"
you'd say something like "ahhh it's pretty funky you know - really good song, and i like the singer as well".
maybe not exactly word for word like that, but in that ballpark.0 -
