Have you tried hertz, you still need to pay a super collision damage waver to get no excess but I found that if I put my home country as Italy rather than the UK the hire charge was considerably cheaper. The hire terms seem to be the same. Let me know how you get on

    Hi Seamus
I have found them to be pricey.I actually need to purchase the Super Theft protection and collision damage waiver at the pick up costing around £55 extra for four days.I have found quidco.com the cashback website giving you 20% back per booking with carrentals. They also do the Damage waiver at £2
per day.I would just need to get the Super theft protection locally then.Just
hope they do return 20% back of the car hire only I hope. They seem to piggy
back the holiday autos rates as they are the same.I'll keep trying.Kelkoo has given some ideas.

I think there are still add ons if you want them.I found this one to be very cheap www.budget-italy.com and they have no excesses.Awaiting booking
confirmation(based in Ireland).Cheaper than the actual Budget website. :j

Just had the bookings confirmed. An Astra estate(sw)for 4 days and another for 3 days just £212 all in.This includes theft protection waiver and damage waiver.
Bargain.Need to go to the Avis desk.Clearly by using the Ireland website, they charge you less.

Use http://www.rent.it/en/ and choose the Super Furto and Super Kasko(Theft and collision) insurance when offered. I think they are each about £4 per day.
So about £8 per day will waiver all excesses(excluding tyres, windscreens etc)

I'm not sure if I've made a mistake, but with the additional protection this comes out at TWICE the holiday autos price - even taking these off it's £100 more.
  • Have a look at

    www.insurance4carhire.com

£49.50 per insurance tax of 5% for one years European insurance for all super liability insurances thefts etc. Much much cheaper than buying directly from car hire desks

I have no idea if you've made a mistake.
What dates were utilised? Was the price quoted in euros or £s? Did the Holiday autos price include the late opening?

I've just had another look at the site and the prices seem rather high on some bookings. Stick with the insuranceforcarhire tip.
I've checked and they are on the FSA registry.
