Why am I not getting my Daily Updates?

Can anyone help?

I have not received any Daily Updates on my subscribed threads with email notification since Sunday night.

I originally thought that maybe if the staff did not work Sundays then maybe there is nobody there to press the button but alas today there is none either.

Lots of my threads have postings so there should be something to email.

I have checked in my Quick Links and everything is set up correctly.

check your spam/trash folder if you have one. The Daily updates are an automated service from the forum software so dont need anyone to push the button

I’ve stopped receiving ‘instant’ email notifications, from about midday on Sunday. This is to a Hotmail address. Do you also use Hotmail? None of the expected emails have been placed in the Spam/Junk/Bluk Mail folder. In the past, it’s been reported that Hotmail’s antispam measures snuff out legit emails. That is, the emails are not put aside in a different folder, nor are they bounced so the sender knows, but they simply disappear.

Yes should have said that I had already checked my SPAM folders.

Alfie E, you are correct I am using hotmail - so what have you done to make sure you get your emails - are you using a different account?

Strange, it’s now working. I got an email to say you’d made your post. That’s the first one in over two days, and I know I should have received quite a few in that time. It could have been that the MSE forum computers were failing to send out automated emails, but then I’d have expected a larger number of people posting about it. As we both have Hotmail accounts, I’d have to assume it was Hotmail losing them. I’d expect you’ll get the next Daily Update that you’re due.

I said that it was strange, although it may not be that strange. The MSE forum is big. Recently, it was growing at 8,000 posts a day, probably more now. If we guess that that makes 1,000 regular posters, that could be a total of 10,000 posters, both regular and very occasional. Then, we’ll multiply the posters by ten to guess at the total number of readers. We arrive at 100,000, and that could be conservative. With that number of people interested in the site, the chances of a problem affecting a Microsoft employee in the UK who has the ability to telephone Hotmail directly and tell them they have a problem is actually quite high.

I’ve always have MSE included in my Hotmail safe senders list, but even that didn’t stop me missing the automated emails, for the past couple of days. For Options > Safe and blocked senders > Safe senders, long ago, I added moneysavingexpert.com to the list.
