Hi - excellent choice, best city in the world!
What kind of thing are you into? Also how long are you going for?0 -
We are going about 5th March then off to Vegas on 10th March then on 18th March driving back to SF via Los angeles/ San Diego/Passadena
We are very flexible if there is stuff there that we really like we will stay in SF longer. We are very into eating, drinking, theatre, some shopping, sight seeing and anything else that grabs our attention. We have heard that Pier 39 is good for food. We love to eat everything but mainly fish, japanese, steak!! Open to all ideas

Also wondering what the best sights to see are? Cable Cars? Bridge?0
-
Loads - Golden Gate Bridge (walk it), Golden Gate Park (great for a Sunday afternoon), Alcatraz (do the night tour and book in advance), Wave Organ, Crissy Field, Twin Peaks, Glide, cable car (do the one that runs along California street), the list is endless really.
Personally I think you'd be better off spending more time in San Francisco than Vegas.0 -
this is an excellent route - i'd love to go there, i've been only to san diego and i am in love with it0

If you have a google, there's loads out there.
Pier 39 is very very touristy and not a great area to be honest.0 -

AgreePier 39 is very very touristy and not a great area to be honest.
Also Fisherman's Wharf is the same IMHO.0 -
Re - places to stay - you might want to have a look at www.vrbo.com for apartment rentals, I've stayed in a couple from there - much better value than hotels.0
