Thank you, will install AVG

Or if you prefer a paid for Anti Virus product I recommend Nod32.
Installed on a number of laptops, good protection and very light on system resources0 -
I was trying to decide which antivirus to use myself, after the help of others on this board I went with AVG as it scans emails whereas my other consideration, Antivir doesn't.0

I had a look at loads of free antivirus reviews recently and AVG and AntiVir seemed to be the most highly recommended... Actually Avast was too, but I can't stand its user interface!0

AntiVir a few months ago was reviewed by PCPro and got one of the highest detection rates for all the packages they tested. Certainly was the highest "free" program.
I heartily recommend it.0 -

While other posters ague about which package is "the best", just remember to fully uninstall any virus package that is is already installed before installing AVG. Look also at the other recomendations in the link above and get yourself free firewall/anti-spyware protection as well.

However AntiVir's biggest flaw is not active e-mail scanning, which to me is essential in an anti-virus product, as that can be one of the main sources of infection, especially to unwary users. With that into consideration in the PC Pro group test AVG should have won the best free scanner - there were discussions on the PC Pro forum about this too :beer:0 -
I had the full version of AVG but every time I got a virus it either didn't see the virus or could not delete/quarantine it!
Using Eset NOD32 now and it is much more reliable.0 -

They also did some security suite labs recently. No freebies, but interesting comparisons especially with the paid version of AVG's suite. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/160/security-suites/products.html
I've personally got Eset Smart Security."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
