Do I need a PAC or a MAC?

I'm just coming to the end of my contract with 3. I've phoned and given a month's notice but I want to use my phone when I move to the Virgin Media 300 mins 300 texts deal. What do I have to ask 3 for in order to unlock the phone (nokia 6280) - MAC or PAC?

You need a PAC to transfer your number to another network.

MACs are for migrating your broadband isp

Neither a MAC or a PAC will unlock your phone! Why don't you simply ask them for the unlock code?

    Yes, espresso is right!

    I misread your question.

If you have asked them for a PAC (but don't intend transferring your number to Virgin) they won't action your termination notice - your contract will continue. SO if this is the case get back on to them and make sure they will terminate your contract at the end of your notice period.

If you are at the end of your minimum term, 3 charge £15 to provide the unlock code.
