Hi.
Just started upgrading my PC - it's only 2 years old, and it appears that Dell have ripped me off somewhat.
I've noticed that I only have 2 RAM memory slots and, my graphics card slot is PCI, not PCI-E.
So, I have Windows Vista and am looking for a PCI graphics card that supports vista. I can't find one for the life of me. Anyone know where I can find one?!

you need to double check.
its highly unlikely to to be the very old pci card slot. its should be either agp or pci-e.Get some gorm.0 -
I doubt Dell "ripped you off"! You chose the specification and purchased it, it was obviously a cheaper model with only 2 RAM slots, is it a compact version / small tower?
As ormus says, it'll more than likely be an AGP slot, probably with a AGP x8 card.
I suggest you visit: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Type in your service tag, and view the configuration to show exactly what the PC has configured.0 -

Do you have a tower or a desktop. Ram slots do vary but cheaper to have just two. Check out the max. capacity of each RAM slot.
Almost anywhere for a video card, try www.overclockers.co.uk take a look and order or phone. V.good cust. service0 -

this shows a pci-e card and slot. there is a link to show an agp card/slot.Get some gorm.0 -
I will run the Dell check when I get home from work, but am pretty sure it was a PCI slot.
At the time of buying the PC (it's a desktop to answer another question), I didn't know too much about them and got the inbuilt graphics card. At the time it's all I needed. It is the basic model - Dell Dimension, but being only 2 years old, even if I did get a basic model, it should have a PCI-E or AGP slot!
Will triple check as I could be wrong, but I am 99% sure it's only got a PCI - oh and it's a tower!0 -
What model Dimension? As you can search for model and spec to check without a service tag.0

Off the top of my head I don't know - always get it wrong. I think it's an 1100, but again could be wrong as I think that's the model I always put0

Actually had a look on internet and it maybe a 2400 - can't get much further away from what it was could I!0

If it is a 2400, then according to the online manual - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/sm_en/techov.htm it has 2 memory slots and 3 PCI slots - pretty sure that is mine!0

I guess thats how they keep the cost of the systems low.
Its a shame for you though to find out now but at least you have the knowledge for next time.
Some of the parts maybe re-usable like the Hard Drive and DVD drive, case so you could get a new Motherboard, ram, processor and graphics card but the cost starts to escalate for what you probably hoped would be a cheapish upgrade.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
