they are all pretty much a similar price really. I often use msn downloads, with tem the more you deposit the slightly cheapre the downloads get. Pop tarts are also giving away a free napster download.

    Ps I have PM'd you

I remember a recent thread which said that ***link removed*** was significantly cheaper than other sites. There was plenty of hoohah about whether it was legal or not so you might want to search the forums to see where it got too. I've heard good reports about their download tool..

Basically the Russian sites are legal in Russia. Whether they are legal in the UK is another matter (However I don't think anyone knows the answer to that yet).

I have used ***link removed ***many times and find it fantastic, It puts the prices of itunes or msn to shame, and shows you how much of a monopoly the music industry has over here. Thank god for the internet :)

I would imagine they mean on price-fixing in the UK market.
  • To protect the interests of our posters, please can we ensure only links to sites that are legal in the UK are provided/discussed. Some of the Russian sites are a legal grey area at best, partically when being used in the UK.

    thanks

From what I've read/been told about *** link removed *** it's legal as long as it doesn't break national legislation of the country you are downloading from. For example Russia, or Holland, or China are all quite liberal in regards to copyright rules.

For countries like the UK and US who have tighter legislations, there is the view that you are in fact importing the mp3. Mp3's aren't illegal in either of these countries either (ie you could probably buy a gun in Russia but it wouldn't make it legal in the UK) so this shouldn't be a problem. It's not quite as simple as this as there are further rules, but you can see why there are so many grey areas.

By the way, the above is in no way legal advice, just what I've read and been told. I personally think *** link removed *** is a great site, although do not recommend it. I just wish the music industry would adopt something similar.

In our country we have copywrite! As soon as someone makes some music or writes a short story? its automatic copywrite!
When you buy a dvd or buy a song you are given certain rights.
You can record a song and play it in your car for your own personal use! You are not allowed to sell it or lease it to a friend for money.

Certain countries have no copywrite laws and sell software and music really cheaply.
If you download software from a site in russia and put it onto your computer and use it? Your are violating copywrite theft and will be prosecuted, the reason you are prosecuted is becouse you havent bought the software and dont own the licennce to use it.

If you write a book and it becomes big? you are given a percentage of the book sales.
Your book will be on the internet and you will loose revenue.
Software and music companies work really hard and if people keep stealing software and music? then they will simply close.
Games makers have already closed and so have labels for music prodcuers.
Its really hard to get signed up to a label becouse of copywrite theft.
Everyone is feeling the price of the internet boom? Just hope people get it before everyone gose under?
