I am assuming it is you wife who cannot get the time off, If I were her I would say to manager that holiday booked and that she cant change it. Tell her to offer to work all the easter hours when she gets back, My son works for ASDA during uni holidays and sometimes you just gotta put your foot down and insist.
Next time, ask first and make sure the manager knows this is a "one off"

That is what I would do, Be prepared to quit though
  • Hi I work in retail it common practise for companies to say when a staff member can and cannot have time off. For instance, in the company I work for you cannot have any holidays between mid-November and mid-January, as these are the busiest times for us. It is also common practise in retail that all holidays need to be authorised by your line manager in order for you take holiday.

It's generally polite to ask for time off before going ahead, booking a holiday, and then demanding the time off!!

Could you not request the time as unpaid leave if they won't let you have it as holiday? Or you could phone in sick, but risk loosing your job...
it states to be careful what you right on the internet as you can get dismissed for it?!!

And should your Asda manager trace this back to you (it's not THAT hard to trace the address it came from!!) then you'll definitely be getting dismissed!

You've made some pretty bad accusations in your post, and it's nothing but speculation from a worker's point of view. You haven't even tried to see it from a mangement point of view, making it utterly one sided!

I agree not all managers are great, but it's certainly not easy to be a manager, as they're no doubt the ones that'll get all the sh*t when customers complain about rude shop floor staff etc...

I suggest you delete your post.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
