Hi all i hope someone can help me.
i`ve got an AMD64 3000+ processor thats only running at 2ghz. can anyone advise on how to update the speed,
i`ve looked in the help section of Xp, it tells me to find a .exe or .pif but it dosn`t specify which one please help `cos i`m playing a very blocky pacific assualt game.

the AMD64 3000+ only runs at 1.8GHz, to change your processor speed normally requires getting into the BIOS.
Did your PC come with the processor speed set to 2GHz?
Also your graphics card is more likely to be the issue if your games aren't performing/Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
AMD processors are different from Intel... an AMD 3000+ doesn't run at 3GHz, it runs at either 2.0GHZ or 1.8GHZ depending on which version it is (939 pin version is 1.8GHz, 754 pin is 2.0GHz). The AMD 3000+ is however roughly equivalent to a 3GHz Intel P4. So, in a nutshell, your speed is absolutely fine.
If you have blocky graphics in games, that's usually down to your video card. Games these days require a huge amount of video processing power, and if you want to get very high quality, you need a card designed for gaming. To get top quality, that means spending £300 on a video card alone. However, you can get a fairly decent card for around £100. Then again, it could be you have a decent card already - but your settings are not making best use of it. You may have to (shock, horror!) dig out the manual for your PC and see what you have. Then try tweaking the settings.

Intel work to a clock speed (ie 3.0Ghz) whereas AMD work to a performance rating (ie 3000+). It's just to put things in perspective. Good choice going for the AMD too."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

Socket 754 AMD64 3000+ 's run at 2.0GHz (512Kb L2 Cache, single channel RAM)
Socket 939 AMD64 3000+ 's run at 1.8GHz (512Kb L2 Cache, dual channel RAM)
My AMD64 3000+ runs at 2.43GHzHug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

The DFI boards are the best ones for overclocking but do demand a decent PSU and memory (fortunately Crucial Memory isn't much more expensive unlike OCZ VX). AMD64's don't care if you run your memory at a lower speed (makes very little difference to performance.
The Lian-Li case (aluminium) has 2 80mm case fans at the front and I've added one to the back.
The system is suprisingly quiet - the most significant noise is from the Northbridge Fan.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
