Advice help please on short oil delivery

Just before Christmas I ordered - through Boilerjuice - 1500 litres of 28 second fuel oil. It was delivered on 18th December. As soon as I could, ie on Christmas Eve, I dipped the tank and found a major shortage. I have contacted the supplier and Boilerjuice, but they are saying I was not short delivered, but just on maths its obvious it was.

Simply I have a 2400 litre tank. I had 25% in before ordered, =600 litres, but round down to 500 litres. Delivery should have been 1500 litres giving 2000 litre total or 83% full. On dipping it showed 60%. 60% of 2400 = 1440 litres, or 560 litres short. Even if you allow for a few days usage, its 500 litres short = over £200 @ 42p/litre. Even if tank was empty - which it was definately wasn't - I was short delivered!

I paid by credit card.

What does anyone I suggest I do next? Involve CC company? Small Claims court?

Do you have the ticket which the tanker driver should have printed off before he left your premises ? From your maths it looks as though he may have left 1000L instead of 1500.

If that shows 1500L and you are convinced that you got short measure get in touch with your trading standards dept. The meter on the tanker should be accurate, just as a petrol pump in a garage should be.
