I was thoroughly impressed, as always, by Martin's stint on Watchdog tonight, and believe me I'm not easily impressed! 8)
I love his fierce and enthusiastic will and ability in providing clear and sensible advice to counteract the thievery and thuggery of the never-ending stream of charlatans and con artists who prey on the naive and trusting.
Of course I'm not discounting the thievery and thuggery of the legalised vampires which exist in the so-called legitimate financial institutions, to which anyone can fall victim. ::)
I found myself thinking that even a tiny number of MPs/banks/building societies et al championed us half as enthusiastically as Martin Lewis, I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven.'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.

I missed this tonight as I spotted Martins post to late.
But it is repeated in the Granada region on Friday at 1.55am on BBC 1. 26th Nov, very early morning.0 -

Did Martin have his jumper on inside-out on this morning's GMTV? ;D0
-
Mmm jumper did look a little strange but I liked your style with the lady who was a bankcrupt. Straight in there with "you spent the money".
Too often programmes like GMTV make out that the guest should have everyone's sympathy for having spent out on credit cards, loans etc when they have, like the guest today, a room full of goods, clothes and perfumes that have never even been opened.
You maybe didn't have long to put your points across Martin but hopefully it was taken in that if you don't have the money, you don't spend it on Christmas! However when the lady was asked if she wouldn't be buying presents this year she said she would still be buying but less?? Why the heck she doesn't go through the treasure trove that was her spare room and give away or even better take back ALL of the unused goods there.0 -
I just cant understand why people just keep spending..did you see the stuff she bought and didnt even use!!?
Shame they didn't give Martin a bit more time...was looking for some more tips...he seemed to be on and off really quick.

I liked the jumper ;D
And I pee'd my pants when Martin told the woman she spent the money - nothing like getting straight to the point. And then we had to leave for school/work so missed the rest ;D ;D ;DSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
That was about it Quackers, unfortuntely! Martin did go on to say that bankcruptcy was the very last resort that anyone should go down and that if people don't have the money, well they shouldn't be spending it. The guest was asked what it meant to her and she laboured on about having no cheque book etc but when asked if she wouldn't be buying any Christmas presents she said she would but they would be smaller (cheaper?) than she would usually spend.0

And Tonight on ITV (8pm?) Friday evening
Can't wait until that as it'll mean two things:
a) It's Friday and I don't have to get up early the following day.
b) My boyfriend will have to shut up for half an hour, whilst he listens to the pearls of wisdom from Martin.
I did notice in the ad for Friday night's Tonight prog that Martin isn't wearing his stripey shirt. Do you reckon it's still in his wardrobe?Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
