lol......I can relate to that especially when you also have cakes in the oven , bread in the breadmaker and yogurt in the airing cupboard and you are trying to do a 27 fling boogie at the same time....;)

I know I've spent too much time on here when:

    * I'm making a list of the food I have in the cupboards and look for weird receipes to use them up!
    * I try to decide if it is safe to eat food that is 2 years out of date
    * I rummage around in the fridge and veg rack eating the weird combination of foods just so I don't waste anything!
    * My supply of white vinegar is bigger than my supply of anything else
    * I have 10 times the number of tupperware style containers than I do plates
    * I make lists of all the household jobs I need to do and take great pleasure on crossing them off
    * I try to 'darn' (and I use that term loosely) socks that cost me £1 for 300 pairs!

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I know I've been on here too long ......................
I''ve made endless lists that are now in the collection of once unused notebooks my friends always buy me for christmas
I follow OH when he's been out to check what he's spent in the supermarket
    (He's starting to get paranoid................lol)
I've stuck labels on things I've decluttered or re-organised
I'm 'forward planning'.........jobs to be done by certain month (Christmas -done by August)
I'm turning the house upside down (slowly I know) and actually chucking stuff out !

Now heres an idea.............young girl at the youth club I worked at in the 1970's made herself a skirt out of assorted neckties........she stitched them all together to the bottom was a sort of zig zag effect........turned over the waistband, threaded through some elastic and job done. Skirt for next to nothing as all the ties were bought at jumble sales for pence.
She also made cushion covers out of old 'sample books' of mens suit material, a long dress out of offcuts ....................she was a good money saver before anyone thought much about it..................lol

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

  • I bought a nice wrap skirt in Sainsburys to wear at christmas. It was reduced to £11. But I noticed on Friday they were reduced to 50p. I looked at the sizes but none in mine or I probably would have bought another one.
Then this morning I was thinking why didn't I buy them anyway.? There was loads of material in them. They would have made smock tops, cushion covers. Or even recovered the sofa if I bought them all.
They're probably all gone now so not worth the 7 mile drive.
But it is spending too much time on this site that makes me think of what I could do with things.

My grandmother made me a crocheted poncho in cream wool in about 1970. When ponchos went out of fashion my mother gave it back to her so she could reuse the wool. She never got round to it but when my DD was born in the 1980s she gave it to me and ordered me to unravel it and knit DD a jumper.

I knitted an aran type jumper which both DDs wore. The wool was still good so a couple of years ago I unravelled the jumper and knitted a couple of cushion covers.

I now have a freezer chockablock with pulses of various types that I had lurking at the back of cupboards that I had bought dried.... Inspired by OS I cooked them all up and divvied them up into bags/portions. But there's so much of the darn things I think they're in danger of taking over the house!
