You know you've spent too much time on here when...

...your pyjamas match the upholstery! Just made some much-needed cushion covers and had so much fabric (old duvet cover) left over that I made a pair of equally-much-needed pyjama shorts. Still got loads left (half a king size duvet and 2 pillowcases) - at least enough for a couple of dresses...

I'll just have to watch where I sit and what I'm wearing!

Has this kind of thing ever happened to anyone else?

I think my mother has had more skirts made out of curtains than bought 'off the peg'! Maybe that was her inspiration....

    Hi

I haven't made anything to wear yet but OH bought me a sewing machine for Xmas so its only a matter of time.

But my MSing means that I have lots of socks that don't match (it would be a shame to throw perfectly good clothes away) and they don't show when you are wearing boots.

I also have very few winter or summer clothes. Most clothes I own can be layered so not much gets packed away at the end of each season.

I have lots of odd socks too Cuddlymarm, but bizarrely I have 'odd sock pairs' - socks that don't match, but I always wear the same odd ones together.

Does that make me strange?

Don't know if it makes you strange but I do it as well. Maybe we're both strange?:rotfl:

I can relate to that - I don't care about colour but they need to be the same thickness :)

    Well done on your endeavours!:T

I bought a load of fabric in a sale once, which I wanted for recovering the dining chairs and thought it would be great to make up some matching curtains ... still had plenty over, so made some place mats ... still had some over so made some covered coat hangers ... *still* had some over ... so made a full length table cloth (for the lounge side table) .... *still* had some remainging soooooo ..... learned how to quilt/patchwork! ;) :rotfl:

Ah, yes, quilting to use up oddments of fabric .... that lead to buying up duvet covers from charity shops to build up my fabric stash .... :o:o:o

And let's not go down the button box route .... :silenced:

Snap Queenie - I am currently working my way through my stash of cotton duvet covers/sheets bought from charity shops - the trouble is that having started on that route when I get a list of fabric from a mill I often buy from it all looks so expensive that I refuse to buy it even though I know that it is much cheaper than I can buy on the high street.:o

I don't know about you but I belong to a quilting group and have not yet taken anything in to "show and tell" because all of my quilts are made from recycled fabric and all of the other members seem to spend a fortune on buying 'proper' quilt fabric and I have to admit that I am not too sure how my quilts will be received - that said my family and I are very pleased with them. I have become soo frugal with my fabric that I am now using the scraps from my quilts in making rag rugs - absolutely nothing is going to waste.:D

  • Oooh a rag rug - that sounds like a good idea - I have loads of fabric (old curtains, duvet covers etc etc). Where do you get the 'bottom' from? (you know, the base thing with the square holes - don't know what its called?) I saw a complete kit in a craft shop yesterday, but it had a pattern on it and the co-ordinating wool. Or do you infact need the base thingy, can you somehow tie them together???
