Vodafone contract - is this possible?

Hi,

Does anybody know if it's possible to cancel a vodafone contract (after the agreed period is over) and then re-connect as a new customer (via Qudico, thus getting cashback too!) with a new number and get the same offers as any other 'first-time' customer?

I have done this several times. I went into a Vodafone shop and ask for an upgrade at the same price as an offer in the window. They said I could not do it as it was only for new customers. I said I wanted to cancel my contract and take a new one with the new offer. I had to put my cancellation in writing, but still walked out with the phone and the contract at the "New customer" rate.

The only problem with this was that I had to have a new number.

The last time my contract ended I got up courage to try what Martin suggests and ring them and threaten to leave. I got put through to disconnections and after a few minutes haggling I got to stay on my £20 per month contract with 200 texts and 200 mins, keep my number and get the Nokia N95 for a one off payment of about £50. I think they sell for about £400 on payg. I was very impressed.

I might do this myself if i dont get a decent upgrade offer.
