dontwannabeindebt, please just put one filter right on the main socket, from that run what you need but from that filter only have the router plugged into the modem side of the filter. Telephone side can be split and extended if you need from that side of the filter. This will keep the noise from the telephone side of the line off the adsl signal going to the router.
If you do this and still have problems please call Sky TS (after 1830 if possible as I'm on tonight lol) and they will look at the issue as it should not be doing that.
If it still drops when the filter is the first thing on the socket then remove everything from the line apart from the filter and the router and a telephone plugged directly into the filter. Try that and if you still have issues leave it like that and call Sky, make sure the filter is the first thing plugged into the main socket, the router is in the modem side of the filter and telephone is in the other side. This will help with troubleshooting.0 -
Make sure the ADSL filter (little white box with 2 telephone sockets in it marked phone and modem) is the first thing on the socket, into that plug the telephone and cable for the router. Do not plug another filter into the other end of the telephone cable etc as 2 filters on one line will cut the ADSL signal.
Are they proper extensions or plug in extensions? If they are plugged in extensions then do not add filters to them if you have a filter plugged directly in to the main socket first.
Yippee
thanks PaulK and the rest of you,
all sorted

Ah cool you were posting while I was lol Well done, you only need one filter on the line, any more can cut the adsl side of the signal.0

No it is not, ADSL filters are only required on sockets that are used e.g. phones, faxes, modems, Sky etc. Too many filters can also cause problems! One filter can cover all extension sockets in the property, as it does in mine.
Thats what I meant, probably should have been a bit more clear :P
