One thing that struck me, with hindsight, is that having a group of people standing around behind Martin but not actually doing anything seemed a bit odd. It made the set look cluttered too. I'm still not too sure what the point of them being there was. It reminded me of a crowd waiting for a royal walkabout or something.

I think it might be better if it was laid out as a combination of The Wright Stuff set, and Saturday Kitchen (other channel, I know ;) ). The Wright Stuff bit would be having the audience more as part of the action, panning to them when something that creates a "gosh" or "wow" reaction is said, to capture their reactions. The Saturday Kitchen bit would be to have a fairly clear central area with just the people relevant to that part of the show, and those who will be brought in later sitting at the back of the room, so they don't distract from what is happening.

Of course the whole thing happened so quickly, and being the first one there was lots to take in, so I might have mistaken some of my impressions above.

I agree about the Paul Daniels bit too. It would have been really good to ask for a volunteer from the studio audience, or maybe a cameraman - after all, you don't really need to know any background as it is all questions and answers.

Looking forward to playing spot the changes next Weds :money: .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Thanyou martin your show was brillant. I have no idea why you picked paul daniels though, it was obvious he didnt care how much money he was wasting. Maybe you could do it for the general public only.

  • I liked the show but think these tweaks will make for a much better show. I didn't really like the audience standing around - seemed a bit pointless + looked cheap - give them some chairs! In fact if martin sits down it might take some of the urgency out of his delivery. Less items + more video clips and graphics would be good too. Personally, i like the format of shows like Watchdog, The One Show and The Wright Stuff. The overuse of the word "posh" in relation to gym membership grated. Liked the feature on current stuff. Good luck this week! Really hope the show gets a 2nd series. Maybe in the morning slot during the hols like the medical show?

The standing audience was the one thing that I thought could be better. I noticed a couple of times that people were moving from one foot to the other so they must have been tired from standing around.

Sitting them down would be a great idea.... they cant shuffle then!

of the one show and watchdog. maybe to do a bit more like this. also may be worth making available a fact sheet for people such as older folk who dont like using the web ? or is this too costly? teh show has great info but the format needs to look more upmarket. kind regards

I will be in the audience this Wednesday and I would like a chair!!!

About the celebrity couple: I would not want to pay a tenner each month for my bank account, but these too have enough money not to worry about this and their priority was good customer service. To be honest, I often value that more too over moneysaving just for the sake of it, so I wasn't surprised that they took no notice of Martin scolding them for it. ;)
