Changes for the second show

Options
Thought I'd give you a sneaky hint of our plans for show two - after watching the show and reading your feedback (and others)

1. The drainpipe (if we can do it in time) is being turned upside down. In other words rather than "how much are you wasting" it'll be "how much can you save" which is much more positive and I will be doing the calculations during the chat rather than all at the end

2. I'm going more freestyle. I'll be trying to slow down and talk to the audience a bit more (aka the MORE programme) so talking to our case studies as I explain rather than just to camera

There are lots more little tweaks - but these are the two biggies :)

1] Good idea - postive input is far more easily absorbed.2] Slowing down for you is normal pace for others! When talking figures and subsequent financial advice, less frenetic will definitely be more understandable for the many simple souls, like me, out there.Keep reviewing and tweaking. Good luck with the next show.

I enjoyed the show, even if there were one or two places where it was a little hard to follow the enthusiastically fast talking Martin and co-presenter :)

I also think that it is very good that not only has Martin asked for feedback, but he has obviously taken it all on board.

Looking forward to next weeks show.

    Me too.

I think that it's brilliant that MSE members are being featured in the shows. It's a bit like reading a good book and then watching the film to see the story come alive.:D

I enjoyed seeing the old style tips by Lillibet and I'm looking forward to seeing the homemade cosmetics by Angelina-M.

It's a great show Martin. I hope you get a second series and it goes to air after Coronation Street so that you get more viewers.;)

    Kind Regards

Many thanks for sharing your plans with us Martin. They seem very sensible. A few more thoughts from me:

You could make more use of the 'soft area' where the audience are seated. They are still visible but you don't see quite so much of them being unsure where to look.

Please, no more participants wearing tacky name badges. This isn't a game show! I'm sure Martin can remember three or four names - or someone can remind him via talkback.

Finally, an apology to the lovely Ruth. At the dress run she looked at me once or twice. I just smiled, naturally assuming she thought 'What a handsome bloke'. In retrospect, maybe I had been staring too much at that blouse!

quite excited but one comment we had at this end was YOU ARE TALKING MUCH TOO FAST!!! and the figures (that tower counter) were presented a bit more like a game show. If you have the time maybe some graphics with a graphics editor might look better? (p.s used to work in tv ).

Also i know getting celebrities in is always a good thing to attract people to watch the show but i supposed as Paul Daniels rightly said he makes lots of money anyway so was not that worried by the few quid that he might be losing ou on! Maybe more someone who started out in business and would have found something like this very useful or did find this site useful?did you not have a MP who really liked your site and was using it as remember reading about it.

With regard to the Paul Daniels comment, I wonder if this is the case with all people who have lots of spare cash /millionaires as my partner's millionaire friend is the same. we got him a month's free broadband and did not even seem bothered about it! so dont know if these people are always the best people to do this on. Maybe to use them for vox pops with what they do use the site/information for for example?

I think Marks and Spencers (if this is the right company I am thinking of) started out in the markets in London selling things at 1pence at the time - anyway maybe one of the moneysavers may be able to correct me and a site liek this might have been useful if they used to look after the pennies (though the pennies then are different to the ones now!!!)

What about maybe showing how a family was turned around in a week and/or a few months down the line? maybe someone on this site here?? and how their financial situation changed (though i know you did do something very similar in the other programme - actually what i did not really like in the other programme if you dont mind me saying was this use of the laptop as it makes me look at things as if too businessy a bit offputting but I wonder what others thought of it).

Ii must say the hardest thing in all of this moneysaving business is the time it takes! some take longer than others - maybe putting a time factor against each one might be easier (like you did on your first book?). obviously things like checking up on www.moneysupermarket.co.uk online only takes a few mns but sometimes it only gets triggered whne they actually call you up which can add a bit more time too.

I think as a moneysaver even if i made loads of money i still like getting a bargain or saving my pennies as they say "if you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves". if you need any more ideas or team dont hesitate to drop me a line. kind regards and well done to you all. Hope did not sound too critical - not meant to be!
