Anyone know of cheapest way to use a mobile in Italy?
Alternatively, is there a forum here for sorting this out?
My initial guess would be to get to Italy, and buy a local PAYG sim card to stick in my unlocked 6230.
Thanks in advance!0 -
Wind is usually recommended as the cheapest network in Italy
Search MSE forums for my previous posts about this, including their calling card system as well0 -
As mentioned earlier I purchased 3 AMENA sims from ebay for around £10 each inc P+P.
The seller is now doing Spanish VODAPHONE sims with up to 24 Euro credit on them for £17 +£2.50 P+P. Calls can be as low as 1cent to other spanish vodaphone users and only 30cents to phone EU,40c to USA and CANADA AND 1 euro other worldwide.
This I feel is a better deal for high users

I have no connection with the seller, other than being a satisfied customer0 -
These callback companies are vastly better value for calls to UK than uk2abroad

This British company also has 2 callback account.

I have a local (French) sim ,Orange network for use in an old unlocked UK phone. Does anyone know if I can top it up in the UK before I go, using the UK top up cards or do I have to wait until I return to France ( only next week can't wait for all that sun sea and chep plonk)0

top it up when you get there - Vodafone allow top-ups using local vouchers (maybe a small charge), but I'm unaware of other companies doing this0

As someone who has bought a sim4travel card I'm not best pleased with its modus operandi. It's used with a Nokia 1100 and I find it will not allow the use of my Contact Telephone book stating "number Invalid" - I should add that the numbers I've tried do have the International Code added. It is impossible to add numbers to their Telephonebook section of the "Call" menu so I have to write all numbers down on a piece of paper and dial them in when making a call.
The system is a dead loss and I suggest that Martin removes it from his recommendation list!!
By the way I emailed Sim4travel 2 weeks back complaining about their user unfriendly system - Guess What?????????? No reply received.
Their Customer Service 094 number is shown as "call not allowed" on my phone, which eventually after around a 2 minutes calls up a message "Network busy" This has been the case for the past week when I've tried the number.
All in all purchasing this card was an expensive mistake. I'll buy a local SIM card after I've used the phone time purchased.
My advice, Don't buy one!0 -
just found out that fresh is by far the cheapest, network to use abroad, dont have the rates to hand, but that's the one i'll use when i go to Spain (agreed local sims may be cheaper) give C.P.Warehouse a call or pop in for their ratesnever put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0

Sim4Travel
I have jsut received my sim4travel card as I travel around Europe a lot and my roaming bil can be £100 a month so this looks a good deal. However, I have tried to call using the ratebuster overide, and although it gives me a number to dial at 7p per minute, the message is 'Ratebuster does not recognise this destination'. Any one else had this problem?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
Very similar to sim4travel and 0044 but a little cheaper. I ordered my Riiing SIM card from http://www.globalsim.net
SIM card arrived a few days later from Germany. Cost 24.95 Eu + 4.95 Eu postage. That works out at £20.00 but includes not call credit.
Recharge via web or phone. You can ring the UK from France for 0,39 Eu per minute (26 p per minute) People can ring you via https://www.joytelecom.co.uk for 9p per minute. (Cost to ring Liechtenstein Mobile from UK landline - alternatively via https://www.voipcheap.co.uk for 6.75p per minute)
No brainer really just remember to tell your friends your new Liechtenstein number before you travel0
