Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
this morning I paid £10 to have my phone unlocked.

Now I have problems, one I noticed one straight a way which was my key guard never came back on. Now I find that the security code that was set does not work and it does not seem to have reverted back to the default.

Seems like it has mucked up the settings on the phone. Is that correct. I don't want to have to pay any more to get it corrected but it does mean a 14 mile round trip to get it fixed. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

should getting a phone unlocked muck any setting up.

    What phone was it?

If they used a cable to unlock it, very possibly yes. If it was a keypad unlock (i.e. lot of Nokias), then probably not.

entirely likely that the security code had to be reset/cleared to perform the unlock ... also entirely possible they reset the phone to 'factory defaults' as part of their process.

What make/model of handset is it, perhaps a Nokia?

  • With some phones. Such as Bb5 nokia's, on the unlocking program used there is an option to factory default reset.

If this I's enabled then that is what it will do.

With others such as SonyEricsson (newer phones) you have to flash the phone with new software before unlocking.

Just redo the settings that you want.

I always advise people that settings may have to be reset and/or all info on the phone may be deleted, but they have done what was requested and unlocked the phone.

Be a bit more specific with your questions such as advising make and model of phone for further help.
