89660 Numbers on my bill that cost me ££££s

Just had my orange bill through and i noticed that it had somehow doubled from £20 p.m ave to £40.

On closer inspection I noticed that severa "Multimedia Services" text had been received and I had been charged £1.28 plus VAT.

I did notice some strange text coming through but ignored them.

I contacted Orange who said I had subscribed to them which was not true - they didnt care and gave me 0871212025 to call. I left a message and havent heard anything since.

Has any one else had this? More importantly will I ever get a refund????

I notice that lots of websites now ask for your mobile number when registering or buying something. Unless there's a very good reason for supplying the number, I feel that I should resist this invasion of privacy, which can only assist the malignant activity descibed in this thread.

Last month I took a flight on a new budget airline, and despite the reluctance above was persuaded that it was a good idea to offer the mobile number in addition to my fixed line because they said "...we can keep you informed of flight alterations more easily..."

We were sweating on the morning of return because the BarcelonaBus service leaving to connect with our flight (fron Gerona) was full. Only three passengers made it on after us. Wouldn't it have been great if EUJet had actually texted earlier that morning to say the flight was actually 5 hours late coming out from the UK....?

    Hi Kaaloo,

I too have received "Multimedia Services" txt messages @ 50p a go from 2 different numbers.
Called orange who advised me to txt back "STOP" to the numbers sending the txt messages. They also supplied telephone numbers to contact the people/companies sending them. I have received a confirmation that the messages will stop from 1 company, so guess that I will have to phone the other one.
  • I had this on my own PAYG mobile, Orange were worse than useless. They did say they could give me a new number for free and that I must have signed up for the texts, why would I want to oggle Suzybabe??

It cleared me out of my credit of £8 odd in as many minutes and I couldn't top up as I knew it would just use up that as well. I have five three texts a day and tried texting STOP several times to them but kept getting an error message.

Eventually more than two weeks later a text came through saying they had blocked my number from their texts. You can put your mobile number on TPS to stop unwanted texts.
