Got XP ? Get this from Microsoft - XP SP3

This is a pre release of Microsofts latest and last service pack for XP. It is not due for release until Q2 of this year and is officially still in development, it is therefore not for all users.

However.

I have this installed on three PC's and a laptop, one after a reinstall of XP, it runs without a fault, no hiccups, blue screens, error messages or any problems at all.

All the system run noticeably faster, I don't know why, they just do.

With this Service Pack XP continues to beat down on Vista which Bill Gates is clearly not happy with http://gizmodo.com/342920/holy-crap-did-bill-gates-just-say-windows-sucks

If you have XP and want to be bang up to date I suggest this is for you, if you are at all unsure wait for the official release.

But please remember that this is still a BETA product. As such, there is still the possibility of it trashing your system.

From the Beta Connect site which is not for general access, if you want to run SP3 then do so at your own risk as it is a pre-release version for a reason

I'm waiting for the official final release on any important PCs, but I have tried the release candidate version, I think there is still some work to be done on it by MS...

I'd not recommend anyone installing a beta / release candidate service pack version on a PC they have really important stuff on, and to back up first, just in case.

In my opinion based on previous service pack releases I would wait at least a month after SP3 is released before updating. It gives a chance for the clever techies on the internet to do Microsofts job for them and iron out all the bugs.

Every SP release has in the past proved to be nothing more than a Beta at best !
