Hi
W are looking to buy a leather suite and wondered if anyone has noticed any good deals out there. Have seen one we like at a good price from Harveys but many posters have had bad service from them. We are based in warrington, and most of the big companies have a shop locally, Many thanks for your help.

We're looking at the moment too. There are a few recommendations on MSE for Furniture Viallage and we went to look and were impressed by their salespeople who were available without being pushy. We were tempted but not completely sure so wanted to do a bit more research...
Then someone here recommended Ekornes Stressless and we found our local stockist via the ekornes website. They are the most comfortable sofas i have EVER sat in (see the website for why) but... and this is a BIG but... they are incredibly expensive compared to DFS, Furniture Village etc. Mind you they are TOP quality and last for 10-20 years or more so i guess long term are worth it! Chairs start at about £900 and sofas at about £1800 but some Ekornes stockists have 10-20% off at the moment so you might get a good deal. Trouble is, now I have sat in one of these I don't want anything else!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

We bought £2,200 worth of leather sofas from Harveys in 2005. We didn't want recliners but the sofas we liked came with them so we had no choice.
Just over a year later (out of guarantee) the reclining mechanism on a couple started making a horrible rasping noise and seats were sinking.
Over the course of a year out of 5 seats 4 of then broke.
Harvey's inspected them and told us it was disgusting and we should get new sofas. Did we get them....no we didn't.
Harvey's then washed their hands of it and told us to deal with the insurance co. we had 5 year cover with. They came round and did useless repairs which broke again.
A year later we are still fighting to get money back and the case is now with the Financial Ombusman.
I would say avoid Harvey's like the plague. I have know others who have had trouble with their stuff also.0 -

got my sofas from harveys, they put the wrong price on the sofas i saw, they were supposed to be reduced to £1800 and £1600 for the 3 and 2 seaters, the price point said £999 for these 2 sofas.
30 minutes of arguing and i got the deal, very comfy sofas that still feel brand new over 4 years later and that is with a wife who insists on putting her feat on my sofas and my son jumping and climbing all over them.what is the plural of moose?

I had the same problem with MFI, excpet the recliner mechanism broke within 6 months. To begin with they offered us £180 to pay for an independent upholsterer to repair them (our sofas were and end of line) but after doing some research I called back mentioning the Consumer Protection Act and guess what, I got a full refund! :beer:0 -
Thanks for all your replies.
We want something thats good quality and going to last, top budget 800 quid. Am very tempted by the Harveys offer despite bad reports on here re:customer service and quality. Not had chance to go in the store yet but will be checkinhg out the quality. A friend has bought stuff from their Warrington store with no problems.0 -
You want a good quality leather suite which will last and you are only willing to spend £800 - I wouldn't bother, it will be built to a price and in five years you'll be buying another (my sister bought a cheap suite and it lasted 3 years). You need to be spending at least £500 per 'bum seated'. So a full suite of two chairs and a three seater is £2,500 minimum.
We bought our Natuzzi suite (Italina with plkenty of UK stockists) about 4 years ago - 2 chairs and a 2 seater suite cost was £2,000. 90% of the cost of a suite you can't see as it's in the frame.
To test for quality lift one end of the three piece suite a couple of inches of the floor - it should be heavy, but more importantly the other end should lift too. If it doesn't the frame is twisting - twisting frame means cheap construction.0 -
Can recommend Furniture Village if that is any use...0
